I never want to hear anyone say again that Melissa didn’t love Shauna or that she was just manipulating her.
She got so close to killing her, so close to finally taking revenge for everything Shauna did to her, but she couldn’t do it.
She realized Shauna wasn’t fighting back, almost like she was giving her permission to do it. Like she was okay with Melissa being the one to kill her.
And in that moment, Melissa realized she was about to kill the girl she loved, the one she'd shared so much with for months.
You can't convince me they don't love each other in their own fucked up way.

dear shauna, it's been awhile, i know. and i guess i should begin by saying i'm sorry about leading you all to believe i was dead. i've done a lot of work since then . more and more days, i'm able to wake up, and just look at my beautiful family, and not even think about what happened out there. still i've been struggling to let go completely. which is why i'm sending you this tape. it's pretty darn close to evidence of murder, and i was keeping it as insurance i guess, just in case you guys ever ... i've come to see that even the ... need insurance is keeping... back in that place. in that... coming to terms... to forgive yourself
