There’s a bit of a sigh that comes from him. Now, if you were to think of someone who did their schoolwork and put a lot of effort into it, Pip would not be the person that came to mind, but he was a little bit worried every now and then about being thrown out by Freddie’s parents. So every now and then, there was a rare moment of him focusing. “Come on El, I’ve got a history test tomorrow.” And if there was one class he had trouble with, it was definitely history. It wasn’t like they had been taught the same history that everyone here was taught, back home.
“It’s fine, Eleanor.” If he were being honest, he hadn’t really even gotten everything that they had gotten through at that point. Was history supposed to be a tough class? Was it just because of the way that he had grown up, viewing the world as completely different than it seemed to be? If he were being honest, he was still just waiting for the vampires to show up, even if he knew they wouldn’t. “I think I’m just stupid.”
“Don’t say that, Pip.” She scolded him. Giving up wasn’t something that Eleanor usually settled for, and for as long as she knew Pip, neither was it for him. There as something about his tone and words that made her heart ache. “You are not stupid. Frankly, your one of the smartest people I know.” She said, taking note of the page before closing the book, so Pip had no other choice than to focus on her. “Maybe History isn’t your thing, but your knowledgeable in the areas that count. Anyways, who’s going to even use this information in a few years?”
“Who did this?” from pip!!
Shit. El knew that she should have tried a little bit harder to cover up her black eye, but knowing Pip, nothing ever got passed him. “It’s nothing Pip, don’t worry about it.” It was usually Eleanor asking what had happened, but it seemed that the two had switched places. It would only make sense that the same type of people who went after Pip had done this to her.
“Right.” He’d had broken bones before, though he wasn’t quite sure how exactly to check for other people’s. There were going to be classes on that, all related to all the medical shit that came in handy when you may have gotten your ass kicked, but he hadn’t been able to stay around for that long. Instead, all he could do was go based off of information that he already had, which really wasn’t a lot. “Uhm, you could probably take a couple pain relievers, and then uh, sleep. Sleep probably.”
He was also a little worried about teaching the things that he had learned. There was no way that he could teach her in the same way that he had learned, because that would just be mean and painful. “Yeah, I mean, it’d definitely be some work, but probably a good idea. Better to know how to defend yourself if you have to deal with pieces of shit like those guys.” And it would make him feel a little bit better about all of this, as well.
“Yeah, I think that’s a good idea.” She said. On cue, a yawn escaped her lips and she cringed slightly against the pain in her chest. If a sneeze were to come she’d be in hell.
Eleanor smiled after hearing his response. She could tell that there was some hesitation, but there wasn’t anyone else she would want to learn from. “True. Maybe I’ll give them a taste of their own medicine.” El said, a harsh tone detectable before her voice. “When do you think we could begin?” Obviously, she would have to wait till she was healed, but she would be against working through the pain. The faster she learned the better.
nothing better than hanging out w a cat….. love those triangle ears……….. love thos meows…. the mrows….. the mews, if you will,
let your character fuck up. please. let them fuck up on a scale so massive that this particular thing cannot be salvaged. let their fuck up have permanent consequences. and stoooooooooooooooop having them being the smartest person in the room who always has a sharp comeback to put their enemies down, and who always handles their enemies with grace or at least an air of superiority that s justified because they’re so cool and smart and clever™ let them bleed for their mistakes, let them MAKE those mistakes, and let that bleeding be ugly and disgraceful. let them suffer for their own mistakes, and let them suffer in knowing that they cannot fix. and let other people hate them for the shit they’ve done, and for once let the haters not be ‘petty bad people’. Let the haters be right.

my favorite trope is the ‘we HAVE to kiss in order to keep our cover and that’s when we realize we actually have feelings for each other welp’ trope and i’ll love it every time
pretty sure the why i’m very nervous when i comes to interacting with other people is because way in the beginning everyone thought that my character was barb and that she wasn’t just my face claim. i used to regret choosing her as my fc for el, but it’s just a perfect match. anyways, i’m gonna try to interact with more people because otherwise it gets a bit boring over here and that’s probably why i loss interest all of the time.

Yup, he had guessed right, he was a total idiot. “We can’t do it, can we?” His hands will go to run through his hair, eyes focusing much more on the table than on her. Maybe he should have gotten help way before this, but he just couldn’t stand the judging that could very possibly come with it. It was one of those times that he wished for nothing more than to have just grown up normally, to be nothing more than your boring, average teenager. “God, I’m fucking screwed.”
She had to admit, they had barely made it halfway through the section and it was getting quite late. If she had been on her own she probably would have given up at this point, but her job was helping Pip, and that was what she was going to do. “No you aren’t, Pip. Don’t think like that.” She said, stiffling a yawn as she flipped to the next page. “We can do this.”

It wasn’t often that Pip was caught so openly being concerned for someone, and he was never quite sure if he was doing the right thing when he got concerned. Everything nice that he did was something that he had taught himself how to do, or had picked up from Freddie or a movie or something. This side of his was never one that was encouraged. “Do you think that anything’s broken?” He’s afraid to touch her at all to try and help figure that out, as if a simple touch could end up making things worse. Knowing himself, it would.
“Yeah, but punching stuff in the face usually helps.” Or it gets a completely innocent party beat up when you can’t be there to do anything about it. He sighs a little, though he isn’t quite sure how he could go about the situation otherwise, a feeling that he’s not going to voice out loud. An eyebrow raises at the joke. “You actually want to learn?” Though he had picked up on the joking tone, he’s much more serious.
She shrugged her shoulders and held her breath as she touched the area once again. Eleanor had never actually broken a bone before in her life, so she wasn’t even sure what it would feel like. Anyways, even if her rib was broken, there was nothing that could be done for it. She’d just have to let it heal on her own. “I’m not really sure. I’m just sore... all over.” Again, she gave a soft and reassuring smile.
This side of Pip was one that she’d never really seen, but from his hesitations she could see it wasn’t something he was sued to. El was glad to feel that Pip trusted her enough to open up some. “I mean, if your willing to teach me, then I’d be willing to learn.” Excitement started to boil inside of her. Sure, Eleanor fought with her words, but she’d never used her fists before. That’s probably why she ended up in such bad shape.

A pencil taps against his book, and he wants to choose his next words carefully. If there’s one thing that Pip hates, it’s seeming dumb to people. His whole childhood had been spent as the dumb one, and most of the time he did about average these days. History was the one subject that seemed to break his streak, and with his pride, he pretty much refused to get a tutor. “Uhm, I have no idea. The beginning?” Voice is tentative, and he’s pretty sure he already sounds stupid. A hand runs through his hair, a small sigh. “Is there a lot?”
Is there a lot? She should have seen that coming, and she tried to cover her surprised reaction, but it was no use. To go through the whole chapter in one night seemed impossible, but she’d figure out a way to do so. For Pip, she’d always try her best. “There is quite a bit, yes,” She said, biting her bottom lip out of nerves, before flipping the pages back in his book rapidly. “,but I think that we can do it.” El finished with an encouraging smile. Boy, was it going to be a long night.
