Duelverse: As Petra deals with the consequences of her affair, Erwin opens himself up for the very first time.
With a sigh, Lady Petra Smith tossed a silk shawl into her trunk, then another, then another. Then, she pulled two of them out, and replaced them with a wool wrap, and a cashmere scarf. She should pack for the seasons; that would be the sensible thing to do.
She paused, pursing her lips and looking over to the cradle beside her bed, resisting the urge to scoop up the tiny bundle that lay inside of it.
Just how many, if any of her belongings was she entitled to take with her, she wondered. Perhaps she shouldn’t pack at all and hope that Levi would be generous and refit her with a new wardrobe.
No. Though he certainly wasn’t being charitable about her situation, Erwin was not a cruel man. He would not send her away naked and penniless.
The door that separated her room from his opened and her husband stepped in, taking in the sight of her packing and with the small clearing of his throat, he shut the door behind him.
“I see you’ve made a decision then.”

When the musicians take their places to one side of the ballroom, the four of them, in compliance with some earlier unspoken agreement, come together at the far end of the buffet table, by what remains of the dessert station. They probably cut a funny figure, all decked out as they are in brushed suits and beaded, billowing ball gown, but still standing in a circle with their heads together as though they’re discussing a new formation, or the mechanics of a new coordinated attack.
“If you want a dance, I think you should just ask him.” Gunther picks a tiny cherry tart off a serving platter and pops it, whole, into his mouth. “You never know; he might say yes. It’s New Year’s Eve, after all.”

When it comes to dancing, Eren is a headless jerk with two left feet. But he wants to impress Mikasa at the upcoming Military Ball, so who does he ask for help? He was certainly not expecting the straight-faced captain to step up to the challenge. Then again, that’s what he gets for asking if he could dance with his fiery-haired subordinate.

He finds them swaying clumsily under the dim light of the cellar, hands interlocked gingerly as they exchange nervous giggles.
He finds it amusing at first, but soon he is betrayed by the rising feeling of jealousy bubbling in his stomach, spurring him to reveal himself from the shadows. He wills himself to ignore it instead, choosing to watch wordlessly as Petra trips, laughs, “It’s been a while since I’ve done this,” when Eren awkwardly steadies her in time. Damn right, you clumsy brat, he thinks to himself with a frown.
