Name: Matsuoka Sasakawa || Hisaya Breath: Breath of Blaze History: Sasakawa was once the eldest daughter of a moderately wealthy family, followed only a few short years later by a sister, close enough in age the two spent their childhood playing games with each other, Sasakawa protective of her quiet and shy sibling, and developing a reputation early on for having a bit too much personality to be entirely proper. And, initially, nothing in their life seemed truly unusual--taught how to dance and manage a household, expected to marry just as her sibling would after her. Her life became suitors and duties as the eldest daughter, until an attack by a demon left her without her sister and her own beauty marred by scarring.

It was after this, that Sasakawa learns of a group of warriors who slay such creatures.

The eldest daughter of a wealthy enough family has no place, wielding a sword of all things.

Overcome with grief, and finding the ones called pillars willing to teach, Sasakawa simply left anyway.

It had always been said, she had too much of a temper.

And she were still able to learn quickly, determined and persistent, training with a exuberant slayer that had created the Breath of Flames, until she herself had created a breath of her own--Breath of Blaze, branched from Flames.

And she thought she was content with this, would be able to protect a family of her own just as she wasn’t able to protect her sister, able to save others from demons so they need not lose their family to the creatures.

Until, one night, Sasakawa wasn’t able to win, wouldn’t be able to extend the battle to daylight against a demon with opalescent eyes and charming smile.

A temper, improper woman, sore loser, knowing the gossip said of herself and yet thinking she above it, anger that simmered just beneath the surface. Wicked words digging at old wounds that still kept her up at night, too weak to truly make any difference, even with a sword would never have been able to protect her sibling, only shame brought to a family that wasn’t that great to begin with.

Wouldn’t it be better, to be stronger? Wouldn’t it be better, to no longer be plagued by obligations and duties? To have the freedom to do as she wished, without listening to the jeers based on nothing but appearances, to no longer be judged simply for being a woman? Life is precious--isn't she supposed to treasure it instead of only enduring it?

Backed into a corner, given no choice, isn’t it better to live and have freedom?

Sasakawa, exhausted and defeated, willingly accepts the offer of Upper Two.

The name Sasakawa is forgotten, now known as Hisaya--a demon that relied upon their demonic arts relating to flames just as much as they did their katana and sheath, using one to enhance the other, lingering within thick forests and obeying the whims and orders of that man.

Perhaps it’s a bit ironic, new name bearing the kanji said to denote a body held upright by a tree, used for a coffin, and yet Hisaya yet again grew restless as the decades passed, dissatisfied and yet unable to understand their own feelings, the foreign desire to claw their way out of their own grave.

They don’t recall their sister, but they recall the strange feeling of having lost something important. They still recall a feeling of loneliness they cannot place.

When you’re already six feet under, which direction are you meant to dig?

Can be played in both slayer and demon verses!

Breath of Blaze:

First Form: Unwavering Flare - The user steadies and grounds themselves as they wait for their enemy to charge towards them. When the time is right, they sidestep and swing their katana from the direction of the enemy's blindspot, decapitating them with a concentrated slash.

Second Form: Unknowable Reignition - The user smashes their katana's sheath against the enemy from the side with great strength, then with their free hand perform an upward slash while the enemy is staggered.

Third Form: Torrid Incineration - The user bounces off a vertical surface and pierces the enemy with their katana.

Fourth Form: Conflagration Waltz - The user deflects and counters attacks through a combination of sword swings and footwork that look like a slow, rotating dance.

Fifth Form: Incandescent Wolf's Advance - The user unleashes an onslaught of slashes as they switch the katana from hand to hand, gradually closing the distance between them and their enemy. The visual effect created by this technique takes on the form of a wolf.

Sixth Form: Skin-Melting Flames - A 360-degree slash with so much force behind it that it slices other objects and enemies that are at a distance. Against weak demons, it's said to be able to cleave through three of them in a row.

Seventh Form: Smoldering Comet - A downward thrust performed while the user is in mid-air, using the force of gravity for additional strength.

Eighth Form: Azure Perdition - The fastest technique in the Breath of Blaze. The user draws their katana from its sheath at high speed to strike the enemy once, then spin in place as they place it back in its sheath to strike a second time. This form can be repeated several times when combined with the Fourth Form: Conflagration Waltz.

Demonic Art: Pyrokinesis

They can create fire and flames from their flesh and blood: normally these flames generate from their own person, at any part of their body they wish, but if their blood is spilled in a battle (as an example), or strands of hair were cut and left laying, the flames can come from these parts of themselves as well. They can manipulate these flames too, both in feats such as allowing an ember to dance between their fingers to controlling the size and temperature of any flame--including ones they didn't create themselves, but simply took control of. If their fires themselves don't fell the enemy, the smoke inhalation often does the trick, blinding them and filling their lungs until the flames catch up.They do have some fine tuning of this manipulation--ranging from something as small as playing with sparks, to creating walls or sending flames chasing down enemies that attempt to run. They can also pull the flames back, keeping them from burning what they don't intend to burn. Likewise, Hisaya is immune to fires and flames--for the most part.

While they can regenerate as any demon, if their regeneration were overwhelmed enough it would be possible for them to be burned. Likewise, emotional outbursts can make their flames harder to control, or result in them flaring out. Though their flames are strong enough that they may not be extinguished so easily by water or ice, sufficiently powerful/cold enough frost (such as Doma's cyrokinesis) can still put out their fires as well.

If in close combat, they may still use their katana and its sheath, augmented by their flames to block and counter blows. Generally, they prefer relying upon their demonic art.
