Logan Paul’s “apology” is BS and people, especially his extremely young fandom, shouldn’t accept it just like that. He really has some nerve to claim that the reason he filmed!! and laughed!!!! at the dead body of a suicide victim was to raise awareness for suicide and suicide prevention. What kind of awareness would that be raising? The awareness that you’re a giant dick, Logan Paul? Everyone already knew that.
If anything, your actions were triggering and harmful to a lot of people, the complete opposite of what you say you tried to do. You don’t just get to post an insincere and impersonal apology and say that “this is a first for you and you’ve never faced criticism like this because you’ve never made a mistake like this before” and think things will be okay because this is your first big strike and people will let it slide if you say you’re sorry. Sorry doesn’t cut it this time.
You weren’t “misguided by shock and awe” like you said in your “apology” letter, you were laughing. You find somebody’s suicide laughable? A family’s tragedy is amusing to you? You knowingly went into a place known for people committing suicide there, went off the designated path, ignored all the signs (among them, the ones telling people to respect those who committed suicide there) and ventured into the forest looking for a body to film and showcase in your video while wearing that stupid hat and a shocked grin on your face. Your actions were disrespectful to the pour soul you filmed, their family, to everyone who committed suicide there, suicide victims in general, their families and people who had to find their bodies as well. You don’t get to get away with this. Your excuses aren’t important, because what you did is inexcusable.
You say you didn’t do it for views either “because you already get views” and who are those views mostly by? Who is your core audience, who are your fans who you click bait daily? Young kids, and you know what? You’ve failed them. You subjected them to harmful content that could be damaging to their mental health and you are now trying to desensitize them about the severity of the situation by using your thus far not-as-horrible-as-your-brother reputation and thinly veiled excuses for something that you should actually be owning up to fully instead. You and your friends and your whole team filmed, edited, looked at that video, probably more than once, and not one single person thought the idea was disturbingly wrong? No one had the common sense? 500-600 thousand of people even liked your video before you deleted it (to try and save face likely) and your messed up antics are still being defended by fans, and I can’t help but to think that something went really wrong there too. No one should be defending what you did.
If nothing else got through to people, at least out of respect for the person whose death and resting place the video desecrated, think before you excuse Logan Paul’s actions, really think about it, think about who the victim here is. L*gan doesn’t deserve your defense. Inexcusable.
Maybe because his Twitter apology wasn’t accepted that well (or like, at all), L*gan Pa*l just posted an apology video on his YouTube channel, and get this - he monetized it. This dude is incredible.
