love listening to joey batey singing in the witcher vs him singing in the amazing devil like. they have NOT used that man to his true potential so far. "i'm weak, my love, and i am wanting" aside.

so, jaskier speaks elder, right? imagine how relieved the elven refugees must be feeling to have just an ounce of home in the face of a stranger with kindness in his eyes. a stranger two had the patience to explain to them where they’re going, what’s going to happen, and that everything is going to be fine. in their language. imagine the gratitude they must be feeling.

and then, with some, when time grants it, they share a drink. and jaskier says „cheers“ in elder. and it’s just a small gesture but sometimes they cry, and thank him. they teach him the more popular toasts, and he gratefully learns them, says them to the next elves relying on him. and it’s a loop of gratitude. and jaskier has found his calling in kindness.

Been thinkin about what I love so much about the Sandpiper thing for Jaskier in s2 and I think it’s because we know Jaskier as like. He’s just a guy. I mean sure he has an amount of celebrity as a bard, but most of the time we see him on screen he’s out of his element, getting booed offstage, running away, nearly getting killed in fights when he ends up in way over his head. In comparison to immortal witchers and sorceresses, he’s so…ordinary.

And usually when you have a smuggler figure in a show they are mysterious and have a sort of aura about them, and the. We meet the mysterious Sandpiper, the man with the balls to be smuggling elves to safety, and it’s…Jaskier?

And the show says that’s all it takes. All it takes is just to be a person, and decide to help. He hasn’t even leveled up, really! He still nearly blows a mission over his own pride, he still gets drunk and gets caught and thrown in jail. He’s still just scraping by. But there are ships full of elves that found their freedom with his help. Because he was a person who decided to help. So he did. And it was enough.

And for a story with such larger than life characters, there’s something really stunning about that.
