Q: Can He Teacher talk about his first impression of Wang Jia Er?

H: It’s because prior to working together on Go Fridge, I had seen Wang Jia Er in other shows—— I'm actually a person who generously watches a variety of shows, because I want to know what everyone is understanding/talking about, understand everyone's points of interests—— when I saw his shows, I felt that his personality really appealed to me.

When our Go Fridge sought him to work with us, I still remember the first time we met we had to begin filming already, there was completely no time to meld or familiarize ourselves. And then after the recording, I made a post on Weibo that said "I've found treasure," which meant there are some people that are destined to fit with you or fits.

Q: Can you make a mutual evaluation of each other's MC styles?

J: I actually don't have any style, nor am I a MC of any sort.

H: (Slowly explains) What they mean is that you evaluate me, and I evaluate you.

J: How can I evaluate ge.

H: I feel that Wang Jia Er doesn't really have a MC style, sometimes everyone would think he doesn't know what he's doing, but he's actually very clear about what he's doing, it's only that he carries an especially natural attitude, without any obligations or burdens, unlike a lot of people right now who would deliberately do gags, Wang Jia Er is someone who originally carries variety sense as himself, he's very relaxed every time he comes, I feel he's a genius.  

J: I feel that gege really knows how to organize things, so in that aspect of organizing things I learnt a lot.

H: Are you talking about organizing take-out?

J: No, it's that I would haphazardly throw things out there, and you would organize them all (meaning He Jiong would give structure and elucidation to what Jackson says)

H: The things you throw out still have logic to begin with, they're not bad, they don't require too much organizing.

Q: Within these two years you've tried a diversity of entertainment shows, are you exploring a new style?

H: It's only that I like to do different things, it can't exactly be called exploring. I feel that the things that are suitable for each person are nevertheless limited, but if you keep repeating the past, it seems there'd be a bit of an eliminated feeling (as in he'd feel disposable and viewers would be exasperated), so it's actually just giving myself more opportunities to experience (things), to see what I can't do, and to think of ways to compensate for it.

I did Go Fridge because I'm someone who completely does not know how to cook, I just wanted to learn a bit, or to be exposed to it more; there's also another show where it's because I knew Sasa (Sa Beining) would be there, I think that regardless of whether it's logic or legal knowledge, or in terms of expression, I can learn a lot from him, so it's actually because I completely do not have strengths in these areas that I experience them, so it's possible that curiosity is the most important.

Q: How do you see the new nickname "He Chief Dirty" after hosting Go Fridge?

H: I feel that in terms of the atmosphere of the show, we're not too similar to many other shows; most seem to be related to happiness, to love, and then we’d say "The best show to digest a meal to", just during dinnertime, you can watch it, and then you'd be very-- I feel that watching it is very comfortable, occasionally there'd be topics that are little bit dirty, but that has its positives, because it's a group concept of three positive people (I think he means the nuclear family is part of the target audience).

Q: Why is it that a show about food is capable of digging out so much gossip?

H: We're not gossiping, we're only showing concern for our friends.

J: We're only showing concern about our guests' private lives.

H: We are the porters of food. Wang Jia Er has a curious heart, but he isn't nosy, he'll only show concern about whether this gege is cohabiting with that jiejie (older sister).

J: (Nods) Showing concern.

H: For us, that gossip starting point, is actually not meant for novelty, but a refrigerator is in itself an electrical appliance that brings with it gossip/nosiness, because the things inside are very personal.

J: Because it's a XXX (sponsor name) refrigerator.

H: How do I follow if you say it like that?

H: (Continues after slowing for a moment) Go Fridge has an area that gives us pride, and it's that the people who've been on show, after the show airs, it allows a greater number of people to understand them, to have good sentiments towards them. We will not intentionally do things that go overboard for the sake of obtaining strong information/gossip, our editing is very conscientious still. Moreover there are times when celebrities talk openly on our show, and afterwards we ourselves would say to the editors, there's a bit that could cause others to misunderstand, it'd be better if it's not broadcast. 

Q: What is He Teacher’s refrigerator like?

H: My refrigerator is actually a little similar to Zheng Kai's whom we found for our first season, just that there are some expired foods and many beer bottles inside, but right now because I've done Go Fridge, I would be more attentive to the maintenance of my fridge, I've thrown away the things that are expired, it's just a bottle of beer and some fruits right now.

J: Are there face masks?

H: There are no face masks, I never do face masks.

J: And the coriander that gege (Zheng Kai) loves the most.  

H: I don't eat coriander.     

Q: Does Jia Er know that he's one of Bilibili's four big MCs now?

J: I haven't been on Bilibili before.

H: I'm really upset, he hasn't even been on Bilibili, how can he be one of the big four mystical creatures/animals (the title presumably given to those with high ranking). Where did I go?

J: You are the mystical king (raises hands and faces palms outward in worship)

H: Hahaha, it sounds horrible.

Q: Has Wang Jia Er's Chinese improved?

H: Jia Er's Chinese writing is very good, I know because he's written me letters.

J: I've written two letters.

H: The first time he wrote a letter to me was for my birthday, he gave me a gift and wrote me a letter, I was very moved.

J: The words were too terrible looking.

H: The words were nicely written, and he writes letters in the same style he writes on Weibo, just belonging to that wandering/rambling kind, exceptionally genuine, I'll show you the picture I took a bit later. That day he wrote me a letter, he said, "Gege, I've actually always wanted to buy you a gift, but I don't have much money right now, so I have no way to buy you something very valuable/expensive, but I also feel that only good things will match you, so I thought about it for a long time, and I bought you a something something (undisclosed item), I bought it when it was 30% off. It was a very expensive thing, even though it was 30% off, he makes one feel he’s exceptionally sincere, (he makes one feel) moved, feel the exceptional amount of consideration/care he put into it, and furthermore his words were nicely written, it is the kind without much literary finesse. But you know when you're a giving a gift, you don't need to say you bought it when it was 30% off.

Q: Did he write it into the letter?

H: He wrote it in, so the image is especially vivid in my mind, so I was touched, I said to him, "Didi (little brother), I cried reading it," and he still doesn't know why.

Q: Jia Er you've done this show for two seasons already, has your refrigerator maintenance improved?

J: Not at all.

Q: You always have to eat doing a food program, aren't you afraid of gaining weight?

J: There are company geges and jiejies that will manage me (body figure management), but I won't control myself on my own. (Q: What happens if you don't look good on camera after gaining weight?) Well I've never looked good to begin with.

Q: In the past you've also been a MC for Inkigayo in Korea, what's the difference to being a MC in China?

J: The biggest difference is that this is in Chinese, that is in Korean, this is filmed in China, that is filmed in Korea, this is at home, this is home ground.

H: Then you're very amazing, you can MC in both Chinese and Korean.  

Q: I want to ask everyone of the Go Fridge family, have you felt you've become popular?

J: If you want me to speak the truth, I really haven't felt it, the only thing I've felt is that every time I go to the airport, others would say "Who is it, I don't recognize, who is it who is it, who is this guy", I feel that I don't recognize you either but I don't say it aloud, why do you have to say you don't recognize me?

H: Wang Jia Er is like this, there'd be a hundred people picking him up and sending him off at the airport and he wouldn't see any of them, he'll only see that one person standing off to the side saying 'who is it', what is this situation, there are that many people surrounding him, but he'll remember (that person), and he'll be unhappy, he feels that they are entitled to not recognize him, but there's no need for them to be so loud about it.

J: I also don't recognize you, but I don't say it aloud.

H: Okay, don't get angry, don't get angry, you're popular now. Everyone is popular.

Huang Yan: It seems like right now there are a lot of young people who like cheese, they'll come to my restaurant to eat my dishes, but it's nonetheless because many people like Wang Jia Er, like Go Fridge.

Shasha: A few of us will sometimes go to An Teacher's house or Huang Teacher's house, to practice knife skills or invent some new dishes. Sometimes when we go, there'd be a lot of fans who'd go "Wow, you're here," they'd be especially happy, and ask if it were possible to take photos together and such.

An Teacher: In the past when I was at the restaurant, I was always in the back kitchen, I would never leave the kitchen. But now there would be many people who look for me to take a photo together, I feel like this is a new world. And my mother-in-law especially likes it, after I came on this program she'd take her cellphone and tell others that this is her son-in-law.

Q: Why do you always belittle yourself, disclose your own shortcomings?

J: If I'm not that person, if I go be another person, there'd inevitably come a day where my fox tail will reveal itself (meaning his deceit will be exposed), I want to be myself.

Q: Right now you are so busy, is there anything you want to do?

J: I want to see my mom.

Q: Fans want to know why you like to film them?

J: Then I also want to ask a question, why do they often film me?

Q: Because you're handsome.

J: Then because they're beautiful. 

Q: What position do fans hold in your heart?

J: They're my motivation for doing anything.
