Sorry I am responding so late. I didn’t check tumblr much since the flash finale.

Writing wise I think the writers remembered they need to write something for Caitlin / Killer Frost and went for a half baked origin story never hinted at before. In-universe… I guess why not, they have my curiosity. Metahumans not created by the particle accelerator explosion exist. There’s the justice society, laser eyes guy from S1, Ray Palmer, etc…

There’s this “Thomas” stuff and we’ve heard Caitlin’s dad during the flashback, plus she talked about him during her therapy session (loved that scene btw) and mentioned how good and nice and awesome he was so obviously he’ll be revealed as shady. Did her dad experiment on her? Or her mom? Someone on Reddit had a very good observation: “Dr Carla Tannhauser” sounds like “Dr Carl Tanner”, a character from the 1990 Flash tv show. He was an evil scientist from Tina’s past (who’s basically 1990 Caitlin Snow) specialized in genetics. He messed with people’s DNA and eventually became a metahuman himself. Sounds like Carla the cryogeneticist was inspired by this guy… so my money would be on her being the shady parent (also there’s the fact she’s alive and they already have an actress for her lol).

ANYWAY.

I am not too optimistic about that storyline but I’ll still watch it with heart eyes, no need to pretend otherwise. :) Even with retcons and plot holes Caitlin’s storylines are more interesting than some others tbh.

Trio scenes were super cool in ep 22. The training sessions and all.

Very sorry, I hadn’t visited tumblr in a while and just saw your message... 9 regulars next season, welp. A few people have pointed out “regular” doesn’t have to mean “in every episode” but yeah, it’s still a lot. I definitely like Hartley the actor, but Ralph? Meh. I don’t want to watch him become a better hero and man all year long with one repetitive plot. And it’s so going to happen... EPs and writers seem to have entirely forgotten about Hartley the character :( Andy has mentioned a few times he wouldn’t mind returning for an episode so it’s not about his availability. Ugh. He was an interesting character with potential and fun friennemy dynamics with the gang. Flash continues to be the straightest show in current TV. I am happy for Danielle N. too. Cécile was fun this season, I especially liked her scenes with Harry. Sad Keiy won’t be in Legends anymore though, he was a great fit in my opinion. I am sure he’ll visit Central city from time to time though.
