i think its so funny that alumni from schools like harvard and columbia that were there during the protests in the 60s-80s are expressing support for students currently protesting against the genocide in palestine, and random zionists that were NOT at these protests in the 60s-80s have the never ending audacity to tell these alumni "well thats different, what you protested was good and what they're protesting is bad." as if protesters against the vietnam war and apartheid south africa were not also demonized, arrested, brutalized, and even killed for their activism. history only remembers them fondly after the damage has already been done.

i feel like the private asyncronous interactions between proprietary developers and their anticipated hackers is such a beautiful and tragic relationship. although the language is angry and belligerent, they are speaking with respect to the abilities of the challenging hacker. they promise consequence not because they think less of the intruder, but because they know the intruder is smart enough to be a problem. two people on equal ground, pit against each other in purpose.

theyre like messages buried deep within the folds of an ancient grimoire by the authoring wizard, leaving warnings to any wayward student magician forbidding their further decryption of the tome, promising to curse them otherwise.

Ok so if anyone is curious this did happen. It was in Portland, Oregon. The dead guy, last name Magnuson, age 55, screamed epithets at this UPS driver, Warren, age 41. Warren stopped and told him off. Magnuson then decided to hit Warren. Oregon has no Duty to Retreat, so Warren was within his rights to hit him back. He ht him once in the face and he fell and hit his head on a sidewalk, which is probably what actually killed him. All that to say, no charges filed and good fucking riddance.

What makes this even funnier is if you’re a rich guy and do this the actual poker players will shower you with praise and stroke your ego (especially when you win hands through sheer variance) and say you’re great and to keep doing what you’re doing because they’re just siphoning money from you and want you to keep it up. Like, that’s the original definition of a “whale” in the gambling sense
