i know we all love to riff on tumblr, but it’s genuinely so sad to see what this site has become. a platform that was once best known for its fandoms and gifs (and porn) has lost 40% of its userbase and is continuing to fuck over the few active users who are still around.

the nsfw blogs were kicked off, the fandoms dissipated over the years and moved to other platforms that are less cumbersome to use, and now gifmakers are leaving too. i mean, i can only speak for myself, but i’m pretty sure most of us are only on here because no other site hosts multiple gifs in a set format like tumblr does. like, most of us aren’t even here for the validation or the engagement anymore, it’s just because we like making stuff that we can’t post on twitter or instagram.

i wish i could go back in time and tell my 15 year old self to find a different hobby because gifmaking is gonna be restricted to a dying blogging platform whose new management is gonna make a decision to compress and destroy all the stuff i spend 3-4 hours making to save on server space.
