Marcy wanted Bobby to quit so he could heal and get the help he needed but Bobby couldn't because he was still (as Amir put it) trying to save Tim.

Just breaks my heart how Bobby's whole life has been a series of intertwined tragedies. That's why it's going to be so important for the current arc sparked also by previous tragedies to have a different outcome for him.
