βYouβd be surprised how quickly the mind goes soggy in the absence of other people. One person alone is not a full person: we exist in relation to others. I was one person: I risked becoming no person.β

you came back wrong and i am racked with guilt because i cannot bear to see you like this and i should have let you rest. i loved you so much that i defied death itself but i do not think either of us are happy
this is what microwaving leftover pizza feels like
stop it i was trying to be gothic
you wouldnβt last an hour in the asylum where they raised me
but! we! cannot! simply! sit! and! stare! at! our! wounds! forever!
Youβre a random nobody

My favorite thing about Sweeney Todd is that Sweeney gets into the killing-and-baking people business because heβs a deeply broken man destroyed by an unjust and corrupt system that cost him his freedom and family and has been driven mad by revenge.
And Mrs Lovett does it because somthin wrong with her <3
βJust now, I felt like I wanted to be alone for a long time, in a folding chair on the lawn with all my private agonies, but then I saw you.β

i do, often, think of that quote from wislawa szymborska talking about love and the inexplicability of some of it. "great love is never justified" etc. and it truly isn't. and thank god for that.
"Weβre dealing here with the phenomenon of great love. Detached observers always ask in such cases: βSo what does she (he) see in him (her)?β Such questions are best left in peace: great love is never justified. Itβs like the little tree that springs up in some inexplicable fashion on the side of a cliff: where are its roots, what does it feed on, what miracle produces those green leaves? But it does exist and it really is greenβclearly, then, itβs getting whatever it needs to survive."
