A wild proof appears!

On Friday, my b-day, I was thrilled as could be, because the printer informed me that Ocean Gem Zine’s test proof was READY, and my gosh, is it glorious! Behold, the front cover & back covers, beautifully illustrated by @katiedrawsstuff​ ! 

Plus, I thought I’d also give everyone a sneak peek of the inner covers, which feature a Lapis tile pattern provided by @kkdraws ! 

While this is the test copy, which is why there’s a clip hooked to the spine, to hold the pages in place, since test pages aren’t glued to the inside of the spine, everything printed beautifully! :’) Once I give the word of approval, likely a little later today, the printer will then begin printing the finished, matte covered Lapis Zines. The covers will be smooth to the touch, but reinforced with a durable matte finish, while this proof doesn’t have any embellishing, in case anyone was curious. Though, with the proof turning out as good as it did, I’m even more excited to see the finished books! Expect them very, very soon!

Artists! Your final pieces are due TODAY!

Yes! After a few delays, inclement weather being the main culprit, it’s finally the actual, true, end-all be-all date for final illustration submissions! I’ve received plenty of pieces as of yesterday, and today, but I’m still waiting on a handful, so I just wanted to make this quick reminder! Please submit them as high res JPEG files to kritchie1780@yahoo.com, the same address your templates were sent from! :)

Everyone else, Pre-Orders wrap up at approximately 11:59 PM EST, on the 31st! There’s been a few discrepancy’s & questions about whether it was today, or the 31st, so to clear up confusion, that’s when they close up! Remember, the Zine only for sale during this pre-order phase, afterward the books will be printed to the allotted amount, and shipped to their new homes in Mid-to-Late November! ^-^

One more thing, I can’t tell you all how humbled I am to have the opportunity to curate my second Zine project ever! I’ve only grow more hyped as the incredible artwork has slowly rolled in, and I observed everyone’s growing interest, and equal excitement to see this Zine come to fruition. A million wow, thanks, to all that aided in spreading the word far and wide for Ocean Gem Zine! You can rest assured that every single artists hard-work, and tireless coordination efforts by myself, will come together into yet another superb printed copy Zine! I just know you’ll all love these ‘Morps just as much as I do. <:3

And would you believe this is just a tiny portion of the staggering roster of 74 artists that will be lending their Meep Morp making talent to make Ocean Gem Zine 2017 a reality?! It’s been a busy couple of months since this project began, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be curating yet another character-centric Zine for the Steven U. fandom. Trust me, this will be one Zine you definitely won’t want to miss out on! As of right now, we’ve officially passed the 100+ Pre-Order mark, which means we’re already 50% of the way there to the 200+ Pre-Order goal that will cover all costs! (Ex. Book Printing, supplies,& shipping)! It’s still a bit of a ways to go from here, so lets make it happen! :D

We’re setting a course for awesome art!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to pop in with a quick announcement! The announcement being that I plan to post the Mega Meep Morp Preview for all of your adoring vision spheres to behold, tomorrow at 1pm EST! It will contain a sampling of the illustrations that can be found in Ocean Gem Zine, from sneak peeks at finished pieces, to WIP’s! Trust me, it’s gonna be awesome!

That’s right! After some kerfuffle with the local weather, I’m pleased to announce that Pre-Orders for Ocean Gem Zine 2017 are officially open! All of our 74 artists are working hard on their pieces, and I have no doubt that this Zine will be truly incredible! 

I aim to do a similar concept that I utilized in my last Zine project, Log Date Zine 2016, where further towards the Zine’s completion, I’ll post a Mega Meep Morp Preview here on this blog to give everyone a little sneak preview! So, stay tuned for that near the end of July/Early August! :)

Hey everyone! :D Here’s a small PSA that my pal Cori & I put together to preempt the finalized artist list, which should be up sometime tomorrow around 3pm EST! It’s meant to be a lighthearted reminder that while not every artist who applied will make it into the Zine, it doesn’t make your work any less spectacular! (PS: No Aquamarines were harmed in the making of this video)

For starters, a question that was commonly posed through Log Date’s run was: What exactly is a Zine? A Zine is, in this context, a fan-illustrated & organized art book! Think of a fancy picture book, but in this case, entirely devoted to Lapis Lazuli! Of course, as before, to be printed as a soft-cover, physical copy book chock full of incredible artwork!

Yes! Unlike Log Date Zine 2016, this Zine, Ocean Gem Zine 2017 is a Zine entirely devoted to the water wielding Gem, Lapis Lazuli from Steven Universe! So, if that happens to be your jam, here’s what to do next! 

Artist sign ups are officially open! Don’t make pieces yet, of course, since once the panel of meep morpists is selected, I’ll then provide the template & rubric you’ll need to get started! To sign up, please provide the following to the email kritchie1780@yahoo.com with:

-The name you’d like to go by!

-Your tumblr url/or other web address that you commonly use, and a means for me to take a look at any past art you’ve created! Steven Universe or otherwise!, of course, you don’t have to draw Lapis exclusively to be considered for the Zine! *Note, please use an email that you frequently check, as that will be my primary way to keep in touch! 8D

Artist sign ups will be open for approximately two weeks! So, from 4/28 to 5/14 12am EST, so until then, send in those submissions! :)

Please note that all art will be kept PG, as per the general spirit of the show! As for shipping, I’d like to keep the Zine ship-free, so everyone can enjoy it, but drawing Lapis with other Gem’s is certainly okay, and of course, encouraged! Additionally, this Zine is intended to be a Lapis appreciation Zine, so while art featuring Malachite/pieces alluding to time spent in the mirror,etc. will be accepted, I’d very much appreciate if such content didn’t overun the Zine, and content intended to portray copious abuse will not be allowed/considered.

Furthermore, the point here is to have fun with it! Draw Lapis as a crossing guard for ducklings, or doing a radical skateboard kick-flip, that sort of thing! The ultimate goal of this Zine is to give Lapis her time in the spotlight, and I’m beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to host yet another Zine for the Steven Universe community! 

So, don’t dawdle! Let’s go make Meep Morps!

I was hoping this was going to come earlier so that I could have put it all up on the site;; there’s some small changes that need to be made but that’s pretty much a 5 minute job so nothing huge luckily!

Preorder Extras will include acrylic charms and stickers!

My copy of the Log Date Zine arrived yesterday and i’m amazed by all the wonderful art included!! This is my entry to the zine, and also my first submission to a zine ever. Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible!

I’m super late for uploading this (so it’s kind of old now), but here is my submission for the @logdatezine2016 ! I kind of did it in between moving apartments, so it was a lot more rushed than I would’ve liked, but at least I can finally post it, even if it is many months later!
