im glad we’re finally saying fuck the racist’s professional career. how do you think we got here? believing that everyone’s opinion holds equal weight is how the nazis took over the US. We know right and wrong, it’s not subjective in the grand scheme of things. We know what is beneficial to humanity and what destroys it. It’s NOT an even playing field so when you pretend that it is, you’re giving them a leg up. You’re giving them a platform.

DOES ANYONE HAVE AN UPDATE?

OP here: It’s officially been two years (½/2020) and nothing ever happened. I reached out to the school when this first happened and was met with disheartening silence. He continued on in the program and I have no idea where he is now or what he is up to, nor do I actively look for his movement before traveling to that city.

I have stated this previously, about my anger specifically towards the institution, as it hosts Oregon’s largest university sponsored powwow and is home to a thriving indigenous program. It not only made me fear for the women I knew going there, but also shorted my list of potential grad programs, and made me paranoid for the better part of a year.

My experience is not unique, this happens to women daily, it still happens to me regularly - Euro Americans will use racism and racist remarks not even as intentional gaslighting, but as some weird form of bonding. “Here’s some racist shit I used to participate in and still do for laughs, we are so similar 🤪”

Sorry for the tangent, happy 2020 everyone, and I hope if you learned anything from this train wreck of a post it is that you should hold racists, misogynists, and people who out themselves as potential rapists accountable for their remarks and actions - digital and non.
