Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl dir. Gore Verbinski | 2003

I love the way this zooms in on him. We get his sort of habitual hopelessness about the situation, but we ALSO get this sudden sense that time is running out. Is it because she's going to marry someone else, you might ask?

Hilariously, no. It's because she's about to get kidnapped by PIRATES who turn out to be the best accidental wingmen he ever had.

The people who police your gender will police your gender even if you're cis.

Eat them.

"OH those body builder women with pancake breasts arent-" eat them.

"This woman has a beard, thats not-" eat them.

"That man has a baby face, that's not" - eat them with barbecue sauce.

Eat them. You will never be gender enough for their definition of gender. Eat them.

i just want to one day be loved like elle woods’ sorority sisters loved her

they all simply do not understand why elle wants to go to harvard so bad... yet they help her study, grade her tests, motivate her and all around fully support her from the moment she decides to go and never stop believing in elle not for a single second... like wow name me one sweeter moment in all of cinema, i’ll wait

sorry to be legally blonde blogging on main once again but i just wanted to talk about how easy it would’ve been to screw that movie up. the entire premise is based around a girl doing the most to get a guy, the main conflict of the film is the one between elle and viv, elle and her friends are stereotypical girly girls, etc - all that is just a perfect setup for a kind of passive aggressive lowkey misogynistic film that aims at actual feminist themes but falls short at #girlboss. but it doesn’t! while vivian is certainly catty to elle at first the insults aren’t sexist, vivian is just threatened but the confrontation is surprisingly and refreshingly... levelheaded? is the best way i can describe it. there is none of that one scene that a lot of 90’s movies seem to have where the two female protags have a fight where they insult each other’s appearance and then latch onto each other’s hair and yell bloody murder. ya know the one. there is none of that, none of the throwing around lowkey insults to women left and right, and in the end it works out quite beautifully because the only character we meet who is actually outright sexist is warner, which sets him up to be a gigantic asshole without having to have him like kill a kitten or something. it’s clever writing! and for a movie that came out in 2001 to toe that line between empowerment and sexism so well and come out the other side an enjoyable story with realistic women that does not fall under sexist tropes and stands the test of time is very admirable imo

anyway,

CWRB - Team #10

Hey guys! This was my piece for the @codywanreversebang event. :)

Military au!! Helicopter pilot Obi and door gunner Cody. I was fortunate enough to be paired with the amazingly talented writers @bitwhizzle and @crownprincecody . Check out their fics here, and here, respectively. Really - their stories did my art way more justice than it deserved, and i couldn’t recommend more you give them a read!

Thank you both for working with me!! 🥺 It was a pleasure!

My God. What if you were Bruce Wayne and you took in Richard Grayson expecting to only find in his eyes a mirror of your own endless grief and anger but instead, after a short time, he completely surprised you by not just having the happiest eyes you've ever seen, but also being positive, empathetic, fearless, and so eager to do good and help people? What if he held a tiny but bright torch against the darkness you've been living in? What then? Would you or would you not love him with your entire soul?

Alone Time 🌿🎑

Team Avatar had been travelling through the Earth Kingdom for weeks, in search of adventure. Zuko and Sokka had faced many challenges together, and now they walked through the dense forest, feeling a sense of peace wash over them finally. As they hiked, they approached a small stream flowing through the woods, and they let themselves be guided by the dancing leaves that raced ahead of them until they stumbled upon a secluded hot spring nestled among the trees.

The steam rose around them, and they shared a knowing smile before slowly undressing weeks of adventure, their soft gazes never leaving each other.

The warmth of the water embraced them, and they felt their bodies relax with each other's soothing touch. Sokka reached out and tenderly ran his fingers through Zuko's ebony hair, feeling the warmth of the spring mingling with the heat of their exposed intimacy like fuel to a fire. Zuko leaned into the gentle touch, his eyes closing briefly as he savoured the closeness of the moment and allowed himself to sink. They moved closer together, their bodies fitting perfectly, sharing soft, slow kisses, the water embracing them like a cocoon of love.

They bided their time,

In the quiet of the forest, surrounded only by the beauty of nature, Zuko and Sokka let go of the worries of the world, basking in the simple joy of being alone together. With each touch and whispered word, their connection deepened, binding them together in a love that transcended time and space. As they lost themselves in each other's embrace, they knew that at this moment, they were exactly where they wanted to be – together.

The sound of the forest and the gentle touch of the water made them feel like they were in a world of their own, where nothing else mattered. They felt their hearts beating in unison, and they knew that they had found something special in each other. It was a moment that they would never forget, a moment that would stay with them forever.
