A Fond Farewell

Hi Everyone.

Happy Holidays! I will no longer be actively RPing on Tumblr. Thank you so much to everyone who ever partnered with me on all of these accounts. It has been absolutely wonderful writing with you.

I’ve finally decided to focus my energy on becoming a published romance author. It’s been a lifelong dream for me to do this and I discovered early on in RP and RPG that I can’t multitask.

So, for now, I’m going to launch myself into this effort and see how it goes.

Wishing all of you a wonderful season!

Ginny looked surprised as she heard Draco’s voice. Turning around and looking at him just like when they were in school. “Well, I didn’t know anyone else in the City.” She wrapped her coat against her body. “Harry and I broke up…”

Draco stared at her, the desire to slam the door shut was strong. He grimaced and made a rude sort of sound before sighing. “I suppose you want to come in.”

Not a question. Not an invitation. More a statement of inevitability.

“If we don’t know where we come from, then how can we know where we’re going?” Theo countered. “I’ll concede that it’s true that many people these days don’t pay attention to our history, but that can be changed. If I make the right kind of discoveries and present them in the right way, I can make people pay attention. Groundbreaking discoveries demand to be noticed.”
What she didn’t say, because voicing the thought aloud would surely be considered treason to the Dark Lord’s cause, was that she wanted to find and record the truth. There were so many lies baked into the existing accounts of Wizarding history, so many books that told stories instead of facts, distorted by the prevailing views of the people in power. History was written by the victors indeed, and the Dark Lord’s propaganda office was sure to add its own untruths to the existing mix.
Learning that the stories by Beedle the Bard that she read as a child weren’t accurate to the originals – learning that they had been edited and rewritten to fit a specific philosophy – had shaken Theo greatly and left her pondering the nature of truth and falsehoods. She wanted facts. She wanted solid ground on which to stand.

He shook his head and inhaled deeply. “Ever the optimist, Nott.”

Draco stared at her wondering how she wasn’t more deeply scarred by all of the utter insanity happening around and to them. Draco could barely concentrate on his studies and since he was being forced to perform duties that had little to do with his academic progress, was all the more reluctant and resistant to learning.

“So, you wish to obliterate all that we’ve known, our traditions, our ways for this almighty truth that’s all subjective anyway? How are you going to determine what is true and what isn’t true, Theodora? Who made you the judge of such things?”

If someone had told her as a child that she’d willingly be sitting this close to Draco Malfoy she would have laughed in their face. Yet, here she was going exactly that. It was weird to think about how things could change, but she felt that she had a point that needed to be proven. Besides, she really did believe he wasn’t as bad as people thought he was.
“I know you’re not forcing me to be here. I don’t think you’re ill treating me at all.” Hermione told the former Slytherin.  “I just meant that you aren’t even bother pretending that you want to be here with me. Which I guess I’ll have to respect.”

He slid a sideways glance her way. “Do you want me to pretend, then?” Draco let out a soft scoff. Pretend was, after all, what he was damn good at, what he’d always been good at. “I don’t need your respect, Granger. I’ve lived most of my life without it and Merlin knows I can live the rest of my life without it, too.”

The tram operator’s happy voice crackled on the speaker welcoming them to the night tour, reminding them to keep their hands, arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times. The half-filled vehicle lurched forward and had Draco sliding slightly closer to her. He reached out to grasp the bar at his side and pulled himself back into his space where there was no physical touch between them.

The zoo. The bloody zoo. At night. With Granger. How in Slytherin’s name had they gotten to this?

“I want to be an historian,” Theo said simply. “That’s what I’ve wanted for years. I don’t need fame for that. I just need top grades and good research skills. Why waste time pushing myself into the spotlight when I could be studying instead? It’s my N.E.W.T.s that people who matter will look at, not my social reputation.”
She’d never minded her reputation as a bluestocking and a recluse. It kept people from bothering her when she didn’t want to be bothered – and she rarely wanted to be bothered.
“People used to look at me and see someone studious,” she explained. “Now they look at me and all they see is a Death Eater’s daughter. Who wants that to be the thing they’re known for? It’s an invitation to be hated. I’d rather be ignored than hated.”

He took in her reply and found himself letting out a soft scoff. “It’s better to be hated.”

Draco hung his head for a moment, staring at his clasped hands before he looked up at the dark haired witch. He never quite “got” Nott, but he did begrudgingly respect her.

“I suppose it depends on who you think are the people who matter? What’s the use of studying history, Nott, when no one heeds its’ warnings?”

Hermione still wasn’t sure what she was doing. Everything about this situation was out of character to her. Normally she wouldn’t be going anywhere with Draco Malfoy, or at least that is what she would have told herself before today. Yet clearly that wasn’t the case because she was clearly here with him at the zoo of all places. When he went off without an explanation she wasn’t sure what to do, as she was still trying to process what was even happening right now.
“Because I still want to prove I’m not scared of you.” Hermione replied with a shrug and took the ticket to him. As he walked off, she followed him a few steps behind before taking her seat. “You’re acting as though it’s pure torture to spend time with me.”

He settled in his seat, hyper aware of her nearness. He frowned at her words, not having really expected a reply to his query. He shifted to look at her.

“Who are you trying to prove this fact to? Me or you?” He scoffed a little at her additional comment, cocking his head at her. “You’re not shackled to me Granger. You can leave if you feel ill treated.”

She smirked and didn’t reply, her lips meeting his once more, her free hand moving to the small hairs on the back of his neck. This time she didn’t go for slow, because some of the nervousness was gone.
When she pulled back this time, however, her eyes moved to opening of his robe, and the top underneath. Her hand moved to the silk, playing with it as she chewed on her bottom lip. “How disappointed are you that we still haven’t…?” she asked, quietly, not daring to look him in the eyes.

He raised a brow, but found himself staring at the crown of her head. He softly cleared his throat, feeling his Adam’s apple bob. Tilting his head, he fought the curve of a smile from forming on his lips as he noted her sudden shyness.

“haven’t—” he paused, waiting a heartbeat before continuing, “gone on one decent date yet?” He looked up as if contemplating the question he knew very well was not the one she intended to pose. “I’d say, quite disappointed.”

Hermione couldn’t even explain her own actions now. She was oddly drawn to the man, and she was trying to convince herself it was just because she wanted to prove her point. Her pride was on the line at this point, and Hermione was a very prideful person.
“And I am sure you will be first in line to tell you I told you so.” Hermione replied and crossed her arms over her chest. “The magical way is fine. I do use magic on occasion you know.” She said, meaning for it to come off as a joke of sorts.

Draco stared at her as she spoke and he shook his head, bemused. This situation he’d put himself in with her was perhaps the most ridiculous thing he’d ever done since returning to the magical world. With an exasperated sigh and without a word, he took hold of her arm and apparated them just inside the front gates of the zoo. He let go of his hold and stepped away from her as soon as they landed. Without comment, he left her where she stood to go purchase tickets for the Sunset Safari and returned. He held out one of the tickets.

“Take it... Merlin, Granger,” he finally said with some bewilderment. “Why are you still here?” he shook his head not waiting for her answer and when they were called to take their seats in the open-air tram, he went on his own, not waiting for her to walk at his side. Draco figured he was giving her every opportunity to flee by keeping her at arm’s length.

Effy tilted her head at Draco’s answer, a very slight amused smile tugging at the corner of her lips. “What should I do if etiquette doesn’t like me very much?” she replied in all honesty. There was a hint of a tease in her bright blue gaze, almost as if she was challenging him. The clean and proper lifestyle had been forced on Effy at a young age by means of a very expensive school, but without the desired results. Even then she rebelled against her parents’ ways with very passive and stoic behavior among other things, although that had also been a form of self protection. These days a slightly too revealing choice of clothing, heavy eye make-up and reckless behavior were an added bonus to her rebellion although it wasn’t all about revenge.

His discerning gaze swept over the muggle girl, his thin lips pressed together and moved his gaze to meet hers. He noted the trace twinkle in her blue gaze and the quirk at the corner of her lips. her overall look and attitude reminded him of a witch he once knew. The memory nearly made Draco smile.

“I imagine you’d shrug, when I refuse to tell you who I am, send me a disdainful scowl, turn up your nose with a sniff, toss your hair over your shoulder, and saunter away.”

Draco raised a brow, waiting for her to do just that.

Demelza kept her eyes on him as he looked at her and then shook her head “No, I don’t think this is some novel-based Romance, But I also know that you aren’t what people think you are Draco.” She breathed.
She shook her head “No, not live with you, I…. I dunno.” She said, her hand resting against the side of her head.
She took a breath and looked at him, a strange laugh escaping her lips. “Really thought? No, but I know I want to be with you Draco.” She told him. “So… give me a reason to leave them, to choose you. Tell me how you feel, because… I’m so confused and conflicted right now, and I just need you to know how I feel about you.” She told him.

“I’m exactly what people think I am.”

“If you really wanted to be with me, we wouldn’t be having this conversation,” he said quietly. “I’m not going to put you in the position of choosing between your family and me. I wouldn’t want you to do that to me. Why would I do that to you?”

He swiped his eyes with the side of his hand and kept his eyes averted.

“I’m not confused or conflicted and I know how I feel about you. There must be something really wrong between us if you don’t feel the same way.”

Ginny watched as Draco took in a breathe. “I enjoy reading, anything I can get my hands on. I do prefer towards the romance and or adventure stories.”
“I haven’t been to many places and would like to travel through as many as I can.”

“Did your family not travel when you were young?”

He cleared his throat and took a sip of his drink. If there was anything Draco despised, it was the need to make small talk. With a breath he stared at her. “Why did you agree to this date?”
