oKay so LIKE

It’s not even the timeline that screws me up over shermie.

Yes, the timelines wack but I’ve seen enough timeline inconsistencies that at this point I’m just ‘whatever’ about most of them.

What always gets me is the emphasis on family but yet we see NOTHING from shermie.

Like yeah he was a baby when the Stan Twins were teens so there’s a huge age gap there

But all these reasons and I still can’t get over how… offputting it is to have shermie existent but completely separate from everything like he is.

I guess it’s just that extra detail that Stan and shermie were both there for the star twins birth and just… how did that never go anywhere at all? WHY did Stan drive to California to be there for the star twins’ birth? Because they would be babies? Why go all the way out to see his brand new grand niblings, but… never seemingly have much of a relationship with his own brother????

Like again I’m sure there’s reasons and it could be Stan and shermie DID talk, BUT we get exactly 0 insight into any of that in the show. Just… anything.

I’m not saying I wanted Stan to talk about shermie. I just would have really liked a throwaway line that could have indicated some level of their relationship.

Does shermie call? Is that how Stan knew about the star twins birth? What about shermie’s child’s likely wedding? Did Stan go to that? What about when shermie’s CHILD was born???

It’s just so nebulous a relationship which wouldn’t bother me so much if they weren’t brothers with Stan’s general heart for family + Stan seems to have made himself a loner but to what extent has he been interacting with shermie/the family and at THAT if he’s been interacting with them shouldn’t he have picked up pretty close with them after 30 years??

Like granted dipper and Mabel are cute and great, and he spent a lot of time with them over the summer, but still It just seems like Stan lacks any relationship with his family despite the 30 years where he’s had to have some connection to them and it just doesn’t click into place for me because of how he gets into family stuff with the star twins

And yeah they’re kids and it’s probably the first time he’s spent over a week straight with any of his family during this time, but this still keeps me up sometimes

Are there some good reasons? Yes. But it still just… feels like these pieces don’t fit quite right and I can’t get over it just because of Stan’s connection/attachments to family we see

the true plot twist of gravity falls is that stanley is the smart twin and ford is the biggest dumbass in 52 dimensions

Stan: I’ve run a very successful business for thirty years while rebuilding a portal with one third of the blueprints and no help from a demon.

Ford: It says not to summon him but he called me smart so he can’t be that evil
