How people talk to Palestinians after we talk about our trauma, our grief, our daily suffering, and the suffering of our family members:

hey, so i saw this post by @/palipunk [tumblr link] about a gofundme campaign to help someone evacuate gaza right now, with a tweet where the organizers are asking for only 250 people to each donate €100 to help reach the goal. i have almost exactly that and thought to become one of the 250 people, but i realized i could try to help stretch that money even further by matching other people's donations.

so, boost this post and whatever amount of money you have to give--50, 20, 10, 1 or less--donate it to the GFM linked below and then send a screenshot of proof of your donation either in a reblog on this post or in DMs to me, and i'll match it, up to $100 (which is a little less than €100 but it's what i have).

i'm hoping that at the very least we can get another person's worth of donations and double my original donation, maybe more if people keep donating through this post after i've sent all mine, but even if this post gets no traction i'll still be donating the full $100 within the week. there's nothing to lose, please boost to help Walaa Abusamra and her family evacuate gaza right now, and donate anything you can if you have it.

fucking sucks ass that detective is a subtype of cop or always some type of law enforcement. a detective should be someone who is a master of disguise, a weirdo, socially maligned, and hated by the police. he should solve the cases using his ultra specific knowledge about geography, linguistics, human biology, and cigar ashes

from #ChurchToo by Emily Joy Allison

image description: a quote on a cream colored screen with sections highlighted in pink. it reads: [Noël] Clark goes on to say that sexual shame negatively affects people’s ability to make decisions for themselves in sexual relationships as well as their feelings about whether they even have the power or the knowledge to make such decisions.
Her analysis confirms what I have been saying for a long time—that purity culture, contra its claims, doesn’t actually teach young people to say no. It just teaches them to say nothing. Teaching them to say no would be teaching them to hold a personal boundary. And it’s dangerous to teach people whose obedience you are trying to ensure, especially young women, to hold personal boundaries.
If you teach someone to say no, the next thing you know, they might be saying yes because they might think they deserve to have a say in what happens to them. Far safer to get them to say nothing at all. end image description.

from #ChurchToo by Emily Joy Allison

image text: The sexualized violence of nonaffirming theology is an enormous gear on the wheel of injustice that is #ChurchToo—regardless of whether certain well-known figures talking about sexual abuse in the church today want to acknowledge it. While LGBTQ individuals and relationships are rejected, repressed, and shuffled off to therapists’ offices to be “changed,” sexual abuse will still thrive in churches. end image description.

[Image description: two tweets by Ayesha A. Siddiqi (@/AyeshaASiddiqi). The first reads, "i hope people are making the connection that the campus protests are not only displays of solidarity with Palestinians, they're a demand of divestment from the genocide apparatus because so many schools have financial ties to that apparatus - that alone should be appalling". The second reads, "schools profit from their investments in companies such as Elbit, Lockheed Martin, Caterpillar, Hewlett Packard, and Boeing - Columbia University is one of them. the students protesting are responding to their campuses profiting from the business of exterminating a population". /End description.]

"cops are called because students aren't allowed to shut down campus" more lies! first of all, campuses aren't getting shut down: students can get to wherever they need to be—if they can't, it's because of the cops. but over the last few years, graduate students did thoroughly shut down campuses with strikes. columbia was again a notable center of labor action, with a 10-week strike during which TAs, discussion sections, grading, and any other graduate labor was cut out, grinding courses to a halt; sporadic picketing shut down access to campus. columbia took illegal measures by threatening to suspend all graduate students, but at no point were any cops called. other key graduate strikes took place at nyu, the university of michigan, and temple university, with no cops called despite other intimidation tactics by university administrations. this is not to mention hundreds of sit-ins, die-ins, encampments, and other protests that take place yearly across the country with no notice. yet tents honoring palestinians is just cause to unleash the police?
