Can we just appreciate Lord Shaxx? I was thinking about this earlier today and he basically for as long as he's lived has said 'all women are not just Queens, they're Queens in battle tested armor and make myself and Lord Saladin look like children playing war games' like... Dude is a bro. He gives big himbo bro energy.

The Outbursts of Everett True was a comic strip that ran in papers from 1905 to 1927, wherein the aforementioned Everett True regularly beat the everliving shit out of rude people as a warning to anyone else who might consider being rude. Men have not only been taking up too much room on public transport for about as long as public transport has existed, but the people around them have been irritated about it for at least a hundred years. The next time someone tries to claim that manspreading is a false phenomenon, please direct them to this strip so that Everett True can correct their misconceptions with an umbrella upside the head.

I have never before heard of Everett True, but if he “regularly beat the everliving shit out of rude people as a warning to anyone else who might consider being rude,” I have a strong spiritual connection with him.

Disney Wants Your Stuff. (No, I’m serious, they literally say you own the copyright to your fanwork until they say that THEY own it, i.e. Welcome to the new Disney TOS, Baby.

First up, the link, so chill already: https://disneytermsofuse.com/  Your relevant and terrifying passage(s) are the entirety of Section 7. Go read it. I’ll wait.

Now. First thing to understand is that the legal language within the new TOS *implies* that Disney is only referring to people who use its services, people who clicked and agreed to this new TOS. But it’s implication only. That’s not what this TOS actually says.

This TOS spends a lot of time defining fanworks, or as they call it, User Generated Content.

They want to make it clear that,

a) You totally have the right to make User Generated Content (UGC) all you want.

b) You can put that UGC anywhere you want, whether they own the site or someone else does. What matters is that you’ve put that UGC in a publically accessible place…like, oh, AO3.

c) Disney spends a few breaths saying that the creator of the UGC owns the copyright to that UGC…except if you read those words carefully, they’re not guaranteeing you anything, because THEY own the copyright.

d) Disney then says, since they own the copyright to your UGC, they can literally do anything they want with it. They can steal it, crib it, use the entire thing as their own, make money off of it, reprint it, ANYTHING–and you do not get credit. You do not get paid. You do not get acknowledgement. You might get a DMCA telling you take down your UGC because it is now *their* content that they’re selling and how dare you steal from them. (No, I’m not kidding.)

e) Nobody seems to know a fucking thing about this.

f) The bullshit on Twitter over May the Fourth was just a smokescreen, sorry. https://www.theverge.com/2020/4/28/21238909/disney-star-wars-maythe4th-hashtag-copyright-contract-twitter

Disney doesn’t want your Tweets. They just wanted to see who was paying attention, and how, and if they could get away with it. (Yes, they did go after someone who reposted Disney’s own tweets. No more information on that yet.)

g) Yes, you should absolutely take this seriously. You should be terrified, because how many fan content creators have the bank to fight this if their “copyrighted content” that Disney specifies is still *their* copyrighted content is stolen? OTW exists for this very reason, but this is fucking Disney. They. Own. Almost. Everything. In. The. Corporate. United. States. Entertainment. Industry.

h) No, your MCU, Star Wars, Pixar, Disney animated films, ANY such fanworks, are not safe. If Disney likes it, they will take it. If you say they can’t, they’ll point to their new site-wide TOS and say that they can. Is that legal? Don’t actually know, but think about who’s in the White House right now. Think about who he’d support. Yes, the Library of Congress and the House of Reps are supposed to be in charge, but how long until we could push for them to deal with/fix this shit?

i) Yes, Disney is probably trying to steal content in order to survive the pandemic, seeing as their major sources of revenue (parks and movies) aren’t happening right now.

j) Yes, I will be removing my Star Wars content. I didn’t work on that fucking story for nearly 20 years just for some corporate shill to fucking steal it.

k) Someone who currently wishes to remain anonymous has pinged an OTW peep to see if they’re aware.

l) If they weren’t so specific to point out that they really do mean Any Public Place, I wouldn’t be so concerned…but it doesn’t. This isn’t just about their services. This is about the entire fucking internet.

That’s it. You guys now know everything I know, so no, I wouldn’t be able to answer any of your questions. I suggest spreading the word, if only so someone else with more information can step up and reassure us that Disney can’t do what they believe they can do…

…but it’s fucking DISNEY. They nearly destroyed Public Domain in the United States over fucking Mickey Mouse a hundred years ago. Do you really think they’re going to say, “Oh, sorry, our bad” about this?

Negotiations and Diplomats

“I work like an image of our Kell. We don’t take forceful approaches.” She gave him a look before focusing on the Awoken in the screen. “I’ve never lied to anyone, Jax.” She reminded him.

“Vanin is our true focus, then. We need to find a way to get to her, Light Bearer.” Deviks turned away from the screen and shouted orders at a captain in her Native tongue, making him leave the throne room and collect something for her.

"I'll just request entry from dear old Petra Venj." He said with a shrug before he held up the Ace of Spades. "After all, I've helped her many times. Enough to be able to call in a couple favors." He said simply as he twirled the gun before placing it back on his lower spine. "That's as far as I'll be able to go though, she told me that the prisoners within the Prison were the Warden's custody, so my... "favors" wont come in handy."

He looked to Deviks. "I'll get Seltik out of there. I promise." He said, reaching over and placing his hand on one of her forearms, a serious look in his blood red optics.

Negotiations and Diplomats

“The Queen’s Wrath is already burdened with ruling the Awoken without her queen. She doesn’t want to even know us.” Deviks walked to an empty console, pulling up files on potential people that could be of help to them. An image of Petra showed, and she wiped it away. Afterwards, an image of Variks.

“The Warden of the Prison has gone silent recently. I doubt we’ll have a chance to speak with him.” She wiped away his image, and a corsair appeared.

“This is Vanin Fryr, The Warden’s assistant. She is the only one to reply to our requests, refusing each of them. I personally feel she is our best hope in freeing our Kell.”

"Are you asking me to take a... more forceful, approach?" He asked, looking to her as he crossed his arms. "Or do we deal with this like proper diplomats still and keep using our words?" He added, looking to the image of the Awoken.

"Variks abandoned the Reef and the Awoken." He said, looking to Deviks. "Unless Petra put someone else in charge, this Vanin Fryr character would be promoted to Warden." He said before he pulled up her saved files within the PoE database. "She's not ruthless but she doesnt take any shot from anyone. Especially lightbearers like myself."

Dear Bungie,

Great job with Forsaken, guys! I mean really awesome. You’ve both resolved and set up some great plotlines to keep this momentum going. But, I’ve got an idea that might help capitalize both on your great setup in Forsaken and some shortcomings in Warmind. And let’s start with our old friend, Variks, yes?

In the “Warden of Nothing” strike and rewards from it, we find out that - - SPOILER WARNING - -

Variks has abandoned the Reef, aiming to unite all the Eliksni under his rule as Kell of House Judgement, Kell of Kells. And to be honest, good for him. Fits with his character, and normally I’d hope he succeeds wildly…but…I’ve got a new favorite Fallen.

This is Mithrax. After a fun little run in on Titan where we either save him or do what I did and blow him up alongside a particularly nasty Hive Knight. But he comes back to life either way. Apparently he’s totally cool with Guardians now and wants the Eliksni and Humans to coexist on Earth beneath the Traveler’s protection. To accomplish this, he too wants to unite all Eliksni and become Kell of Kells.

Guardians have a vested interest in both of these characters, and it would be awesome to play them off against each other. Now, before I hit my main point, there’s one other thing I want to touch on.

Cayde’s death has left his vanguard spot open, and although he seems to have left the traditional “Vanguard Dare” to Marcus Ren, Shiro-4 (pictured above) has been the fan favorite so far to replace the lovable blue bot.

My idea? It’s time to add a little more gravity to faction rallies by tying them to the in-world events of the rise of the Kell of Kells and the choosing of the next Hunter Vanguard. Let us, the players, determine which Hunter becomes our new Vanguard by helping them complete tasks on their “Vanguard Dares”. Let us, the Guardians, choose which Eliksni becomes Kell of Kells. It gets the players more involved in the world and the lore, and allows faction rallies to mean more than which weapon we get after a 2 week cycle.

Oh well, not like anybody will read this anyways. ‘‘Twas a good study break at least.”

HBB, signing off

Negotiations and Diplomats

Deviks entered her ketch’s hangar as a Guardian brought their ship aboard. It was one of the Steel Kell’s many Light-Bearing associates, and friends of Seltik’s were friends of the House. The Kell of Steel had been incarcerated in the Prison of Elders for about three months now, caught in a failed Heist inside the Cosmodrome with a crew of Devils. His actions were for the benefit of the House and the City, but he would not be believed.

Deviks was the High Baroness assigned as a diplomat to negotiate with the Awoken and free their jailed Kell, but so far they had experienced no luck. The Steel Archon decided to ask for aid from the Guardians Seltik is associated with to speak on his behalf. Among them was the Titan Jax-7, who had just arrived.

His ship was lead to a spot where it was easier to tend to than a regular skiff. Deviks waited for him among a crew of Mechanics ready to check on the vessel.

Jax stepped off of his ship with a purpose. His boots thudding heavily upon the steel of the ship and Ketch.

He approached Deviks with his armor scorched and marked with damage as well as corrupted Ether dripping from his knuckles and the butt of the handle of the ever eternal Ace Of Spades. The death of Cayde and the revenge against the Scorn and Uldren obviously still weighed heavily upon him. He looked up to meet the multi-eyed gaze of Deviks.

“Heard Seltik was still locked up. Is that what you called me here for?” He inquired to his newfound comrade as his red optics burned with a hidden, controlled rage.

“The Awoken still refuse my attempts to request a council so that I may free my Kell.” Deviks responded, her lower hands rested comfortably on the hilts of her shock blades. She turned and began to walk towards the hangar’s exit, expecting the titan to follow behind her.

“My hopes are that they will listen to the words of a Light Bearer. One, like you, who has worked with my Kell.” She led him towards her small throne room within her ketch, where a group of her trusted barons watched over the multiple missions her crews went on in the Tangled Shore.

"If it may help in anyway to get a comrade out of a situation of false accusation, I am willing to help." He said to Deviks as he walked with her to her Ketch's throne room. "I will speak with Petra on the matter since she is the Queen's right hand in all of this." He said, looking to one of Seltik's most loyal compatriots.

"If you feel the need to mention any sort of compensation, which I hope isn't the case, don't bother yourself with such things. This isn't a matter of money or spoils."
