It was comforting to feel the arm around his shoulders. Zell did know it was all stupid in the end. A feel that also left him feeling silly or dumb over such a thing to have the willies over. “Yeah.. I know. It doesn’t sound like a horrible storm. At least I don’t think. M, maybe it’ll pass by quickly.”
“Hopefully that will be the case. Least it’s gotten a bit warmer out now. It’s more tolerable than it usually is.” He kept his arm around the other as they walked back. Summer rains were fine, but the cold fall and winter rain got to him. Sapping him of his energy and leaving him feeling lethargic. Snow on the other hand surprisingly didn’t bother him all that much.
“Right...,” He’d forgotten how enthusiastic she could be. That was the best word he could think of to politely describe the bouncy brunette. Selphie’s methods, while terrifying, could work out for the best....most of the time. “You go ahead and cross whatever wires you want sunshine, but do it while I stand over there. I don’t want that thing exploding in my face.”
“I wasn’t trying to snap at you. I just–” Zell flinched once more at the boom of thunder. This time followed by the sounds of rain. The brawler looked more nervous than usual. For one thing he kept his arms close to himself instead at his sides as they usually were. In spite Seifer telling Zell not to climb in his coat it didn’t stop Zell from at least standing very close to him.
This was no good. As the rain fell he could already feel it starting to effect him. Seifer wasn’t ignorant of Zell’s feelings. While the other was standing close he put an arm around the brawler. “Hey...It’ll be fine.”
“I know what thunder is,” Zell said in a huff as he tried to peel himself out of the coat. “It’s mostly just heavy static in the clouds building up to some stupid degree until finally something sets it off in one big explosion.” By now Zell was frowning up at Seifer. “And you should know in that thick skull of yours that sometimes shit scares you to stupid degrees where you feel pathetic. So yes, I know it’s not a damn thing to be afraid of, excuse me for emoting.”
“Calm the hell down.” He leaned back as he rested his hands on his hips. “No reason to fucking snap at me like that. I laughed. It’s hard not to when your boyfriend’s first reaction is to jump and dive into your coat. Still...” He glanced towards the sky at the coming dark clouds. “Should get see about getting back to the room.”
“Don’t you hear it? I swear it sounds like–” Zell was cut off by the sudden sound of thunder. If he weren’t already in Seifer’s coat Zell would have been by now. Jumping Zell clung to the ex-Knight and burying his face where he could. “Nnnhh!” He mumbled.
So that was it. Thunder. Now he had Zell clinging to him inside his coat. He couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. Yeah he should have probably been a bit more considerate about it all, but the shorter blonde’s reaction the noise was a bit hard not to laugh at. “That’s it? Zell for all the damn facts you have in that spongy brain of yours you should know better than most that thunder isn’t anything to be afraid of. Now come out. It’s a pain trying to walk with you tucked under there.”
He’d gotten used to Zell’s tendency to try worming his way into his coat. It could be a bit on the annoying side, but for the most part he tolerated it since it helped the brawler feel more at ease from time to time. “Zell, knock it off. There’s nothing down there.”
"Am I the only one freaked out right now?" Zell asked as he tried to look down the hall, squinting.
“Would seem that way. Why? You want me to hold your hand or something?” He honestly didn’t see what was so weird down the hallway that could be bothering the brawler.
