they should make more movies about disillusioned middle aged people being upset they're stuck in Sisyphean jobs under the soul crushing corporate structure and have to escape it or fuck it up somehow. I miss those and they're never gonna be irrelevant as long as capitalism keeps going
the three biggest examples I can think of are fight club, the matrix and office space, which all came out in the same year. did the angst about how soul crushing that kind of work is vanish with Y2k, did it just get entirely coopted by that weird guy that made Dilbert and Ricky Gervais and that made it so uncool no one ever tried again?
were the attempts at it post Y2k just that bad that I've forgotten about them entirely in the list 20 years ?
