people acting like joss whedon being a horrible person is somehow new?

casual reminder:

  • every time Buffy had sex she was severely punished for it in the narrative. (Angel turned evil, she learned she was just a hookup, everything with Spike)
  • Faith - the ONLY sex positive character in the entire show - turns evil and is killed off, and when she comes back she suddenly doesn’t have sex anymore
  • the creation of the Buffy-Bot. The abuse of the Buffy-Bot by the series worst villain and by Spike
  • the entirety of the Dollhouse premise. Where a female character has her memory wiped over and over again, erasing all the physical and sexual abuse she faced when she was ‘rented’ by someone
  • Loki calling Natasha a ‘mewling quim’ is old timey speak for ‘whiny cunt’

I know I’ve said this before but I always thought in Hush, Tara would be the one who was the “princess” of the story. Simply because of her anxiety with speaking up in the Wicca Group.

It should have been her who broke the spell; it would have been a wonderful moment.

I wish that sometimes the show was about Buffy helping more people find their strength. I know it was for her band of friends, but I also think it was tiring when Buffy was always chosen. Always.
