Interesting canon fact: Shu earnestly tries to teach Yui to play the violin in his MB route after he saw how honestly she admired his music ability.

Shu, who normally wouldn’t lift a finger for anything, actually goes out of his way to patiently teach Yui how to play an instrument that he personally loves, one that he cherished as a little boy: the violin.

This is one of the reasons why ShuYui is a beautiful relationship.

Shu, who spends a heavy chunk of his life feeling little to no purpose, and spends most of his days lounging about, finds a sense of purpose with Yui. Whether he regains the sense of purpose that he once had, or that he found a new sense of purpose because of Yui is debatable, but one thing is clear: ShuYui is a canon ship with one of the highest potential for both parties to undergo personal growth, and cultivate same interests. Because we see, very plainly, that Yui is interested in music, and eager to learn about it. And of course Shu is down for showing her more about it; it’s not like anyone else has ever honestly expressed to Shu that they like him for his interests, instead of his status.

I can see, without a smidgen of doubt, Shu and Yui growing closer through a shared appreciation for music. We can already see from canon that these two can spend long hours together in comfortable peace.

Their temperaments are similar, and Shu seems to find peace with Yui’s non-abrasive nature (which is something that tends to annoy him, or cause him to just tune someone out). Learning music, of course, requires long hours of dedication and practice. The fact that these two are so comfortable spending time together during long silences (because of their temperaments) suggests that music, Shu’s greatest passion and Yui, combined, could possibly lead to a new, uncharted avenue in which their bond and their love grows even stronger post game(s).

I think it’s safe to say that in canon, if not at least in my portrayal, Yui internalizes a lot of things. I mean she was brought up in a place that constantly chastised and shushed any amount of self-pity she had with her father being absent. Then looking at canon and the events of the first game nothing that happens to her is ever really addressed outwardly after it happens. It’s never fucking talked about because no one in that house talks about anything that they should, not a single one of them have the tools for it save for Yui and honestly she’s not great at it when it comes to herself. So i’m gonna wager that because traumatic experiences are never outwardly addressed in canon, they’re not outwardly addressed at all. So my thinking is this—
