"Makoto? Have you seen my tie anywhere?" Rin asked, looking around for it, he had an interview and was stressed

Avatar

"Oh, here!" Makoto took the tie off of the top of the dresser and walked it over to Rin, holding it out with a gentle smile. It was obvious Rin was nervous for his interview, but he couldn't help but find it kind of cute.

Avatar

Rin hung up and soon enough he was heading home. He took his shoes off as he came inside, "Mako?" He called.

Makoto put his laptop on the coffee table when he heard Rin come through the door. He had wanted to get work done but he could barely think knowing Rin had something to tell him... "Rin! I'm glad you're home.." he greeted with a smile, walking over to help him with the groceries.

Rin kissed his cheek, "I'm glad to be home too, thank you," he said as Makoto helped him. "Okay. So yeah, I did get the job which is great... But... Turns out your ex works there..."

Makoto bit his lip at the news, several thoughts running through his head at one time. "Rin.." he gulped, frozen in his tracks. "A-Are you sure?" he asked, hoping that there was some mistake.

Rin sighed and nodded, taking Makotos hand, "I'm pretty sure yeah, I only saw him in passing but it was him."

Makoto tensed in Rin's hand and looked down at the ground nervously. "Do you have to take that job? I know how much you want to work, but.."

"If it makes you uncomfortable, I'll turn it down. I love you Makoto." Rin kissed his knuckles.

Makoto shook his head. "I'll get over it," he reassured him. "I know how much you want this, and you probably won't even have to interact with him so..."

"How about we give it a month? We can save up some money and if you aren't comfortable with it I'll quit." Rin counter offered, he didn't want Makoto to be uncomfortable but this was the first job offer he had gotten in ages.

Makoto nodded, giving Rin a kiss on the cheek. "That's a good idea... thank you, Rin," he smiled. He really didn't want to take this away from Rin over something so little... but there was still an awkwardness that Makoto feared. He hoped it wouldn't cause problems for Rin at his job...

"Of course babe, for now though will you help me in the kitchen? How was your day love?" Rin asked, kissing Makotos cheek before heading to get some stuff out for dinner.

Makoto gladly followed Rin to the kitchen, standing by ready to help whenever he needed. "It was alright, I just cleaned around the house while you were gone," he shrugged with a smile.

Rin huffed a little when he saw where it had been. "Thank you babe," he smiled and took it, flipping his collar up and doing his tie, "Is it okay?"

Makoto nodded, though he reached forward to adjust the knot just slightly. "Perfect," he grinned. "You shouldn't worry too much, Rin," be encouraged, having complete faith that he would get the job.

"Thank you," Rin took his hand, "Still, you've been supporting us for a while now, I want to help out."

Makoto squeezed his hand lovingly, bringing it up to his face to kiss it. "You know I don't mind.. although I do appreciate the thought."

"I know you don't, your generosity is one of the many many things I adore about you." Rin replied. He checked the time, "Okay, I better go. Wish me luck."

Makoto sighed, reluctantly letting go of Rin's hand so that he could go. "Good luck! I know you'll do great!" he smiled, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Rin smiled, "I'll call you after." He promised, fixing Makotos hair before he put his shoes on and headed out.

Makoto nodded, blushing as Rin fixed his hair. He waved at him by the door until he was out of sight, the door closing. He turned to walk back into the house, hoping he'd come back with good news.

A couple of hours later, Rin called Makoto while he walked to the grocery store.

Makoto had been cleaning around the house while waiting for Rin, and seeing his name pop up on his phone made him nervous. He answered it shakily, curious to know how Rin was doing. "Hey!! How'd it go?" he asked immediately.

"Well... I got the job! But..." Rin hesitated, "I think it's better if I just tell you when I get home. I'm gonna make you your favourite to celebrate though! I promise it's like 99% good news."

Makoto frowned at the hesitation in Rin's voice, though he smiled at the news of Rin's acceptance. "Oh that's great!!" he beamed. "Will you be home soon then?" he asked anxiously, wanting to know what the 1% was.

"Yep, about to pay for the groceries and head home, should be there in like five minutes? I love you Makoto." Rin told him, a little nervous of how Makoto would take the news.

Makoto nodded to himself and took a deep breath to calm down. Soon Rin would be home and he would know what he knew. "I love you too, see you soon!"
