Sorry, that I disappeared all of a sudden almost a year ago without saying a word, and leaving all my BSD projects and mutuals behind. 🙈

But many things in my life happend pretty fast, and then I neither had the time nor the strength to keep on doing what I usually did here.

But tbh, I also kinda needed a time out from BSD, too. Now things are going smoothly again in my life (and in the right direction, finally!). And I am fit again to throw myself back into deep BSD lore.

I'm very sorry to everyone who may have wondered why I'm gone and why I haven't answered any messages anymore 🥲

I'm currently re-reading the manga and catching up with everything that I missed since then (both in the bsd story and fandom). So things will still take me a while until I'm up to date.

Oh, definitely! All my money is on Stormbringer before anything else, for the sole reason that it has Bones’ poster boys Dazai and Chuuya all over it.

I think they would only start adapting other LNs, if they run out of LNs that don’t focus (that much) on Dazai and/or Chuuya.

I'm currently lagging behind on all information regarding BSD.

I googled it and looked into the discord chat I'm in and apparently season 4 got officially announced sometime in June this year (the production that is). But so far that's been it?

So, now everyone is waiting for an official release date. Which hasn't been announced until now?

At least, that's what I was able to look up. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

I just realized that Kunikida bitch-kicks Tanizaki in the face during Atsushi’s Entrance Exam:

Like bruh... the boy is bleeding. And I’m pretty sure that kick could’ve broken his neck, but whatevs I guess.

Apparently Tanizaki recovers in like a second and he’s...fine?

Hello everyone, I hope you’re doing great!

Once again, I am sorry for my absence and the lack of activity on this blog.

I started a new job last month and needed some time to accustom myself to everything there.

But the actual problem I have is that my laptop has reached its end now. I already tried to reset and repair it, but nothing seems to help, and things even have gotten worse. It’s really no fun working on it anymore, especially if you need like 30 minutes until it finally opens a document of any kind or the browser. Which is, well, not good for any activity/project I’m doing on this blog here. It’s only frustrating... |D

So, I’ll be needing a new one, but I’m not able to buy one ASAP, because I don’t have enough money this month. Hence this will take a while, and with it my lack of activity will take a while, too. Hopefully, that will change within the next month aka in November (but I can’t guarantee it!).

So, please be patient with me a little while longer! I have some asks in my inbox, I’ll still be answering, ofc. And I have read and seen all your tags and replies, so please don’t think that I am ignoring you. It’s just that my own laptop is gatekeeping me from properly using the internet (and all my programs).

Because I used the tumblr app once and it was horrible to navigate. I’m not a big fan of using my phone for blogging stuff. And since I write a lot, I tend to not use it for this.

bsd fan translators masterlist

Hi BSD fandom,

With some help from @chazukekani and @nikadoesanart, I’ve made a masterlist of all the current and former fan translators working on the Bungou Stray Dogs franchise. This includes the main manga, as well as all the light novels, spin-offs, anthologies, and other miscellaneous content. The masterlist is meant to serve as a resource for finding translations across various social media sites, as well as help to establish a framework of who is currently doing what.

If you’re a BSD translator and don’t wish to be on this list, please feel free to message me and I’ll remove you immediatly. Conversely, if you do any translation work and don’t see yourself here, feel free to message me as well and I’ll add you on. 

Per Kani’s prediction that one day the entire fandom will be contained in a handful of Google Docs, this masterlist is in a Google document as well. Access to the document is partly restricted, so simply click on the link to request access with an email of your choosing. I read a rumor that Atsushi was originally planned to be a young woman (the same but they switched genders late editing). Regardless if it’s true, it made me think on how many of his qualities are traditionally feminine for this genre. He’s the heart of the group and very idealistic and wouldn’t be out of place in Sailor Moon. They really poke fun at it in the anime, but the manga plays these qualities straight. While it’s neat to see these traits in a male character, it makes a certain sense

Don't know if this rumor is true, because there are several weird rumors about BSD some people like to portray as true (without giving a source, of course).

Nevertheless, I don't think that in-universe much would change, if Atsushi was a girl, or that Asagiri would write his scenes vastly different. I answered a similar ask here and why I think that is.

However, I believe that we as the readers would definitely perceive a female Atsushi differently and also her relationships with other characters. Although I can’t decide whether the fandom would be more protective of a female Atsushi or if the fandom would be more critical of a female Atsushi.

But I agree that Atsushi can be described as female-coded. Starting from the way Harukawa decides to draw him and some of his poses

to the way he interacts with other characters, or some of his reactions in general.

Atsushi very often and publicly crying or showing irritation might put off (especially male) readers, since the typical, idealistic and popular male anime/manga hero acts nothing like this (at least, not the ones that I know).

Atsushi doesn’t get a dramatic entrance last minute to a fight, and heroically defeats the bad guy by himself. He doesn’t act like a funny brat or snorts cool one liners. He doesn’t wipe away his blood and smiles, and then gets hyped up for the thrill of the battle. He doesn’t “change people’s minds” because he was able to defeat them in battle, and thus they are mesmerized by his physical strength.

It’s way more subtle and if characters positively remember Atsushi later on, it’s mostly because through his words and not through his power. He admits that he is afraid of pain and getting hurt, we see him screaming in agony or being so paralyzed by fear that he is unable to move. He needs the help and support of others, he often doubts himself and doesn’t believe that he is able to do something by himself. Which are all things that are completely natural for someone with a backstory like his. But all those character traits make him as a male protagonist appear “whimpy” to the readers, because we are not used to see a male character acting like this.

Yeah, sadly it happens so often to fan artists, gifmakers and graphic editors. Happened a while ago to @ikizai's BSD gifs and edits, too. I'm kinda surprised people do this with analysis or even fanfics though, since this involves more work than just clicking "save image as" and then uploading it on another site.

And said person on insta actually took their time to read all the metas? And rephrase it a TINY bit? AND put it all together in a whole ass graphic? Still, not enough to just call it "inspiration" tho.

So, I think the best thing a fandom can do is to keep an eye out for each other. And if you stumble upon something that you think might have seen/read elsewhere (regardless of what it is) then don't be afraid to notify said person about it.

Ugh, I don't know why, but whenever I see someone calling out a reposter (no matter which fandom) the reposter always tend to react the same way. Sometimes even outright hostile.

Anyways, I'm fine, don't worry about me. I don't want to complain too much about it, because I know that there are much much worse things happening in the world. But it was an annoying situation which could've been easily avoided, tbh.

Because 2020 and 2021 cannot have even a single tiny funny thing, ya?

So, most people probably know by now what this is about, and the situation already has turned for the better for the original posters.

The person in question already posted a public apology and took some posts down:

Even though their “I admit, yes, I was inspired by tumblr posts and took some things from them” and “As far as I can remember, I wrote these completely by myself” is another blatant lie, and just another excuse for damage control.

However, I wanted to reach out to everyone involved in this that made this positive change happen. I didn’t even had the time to do something or to get in contact with said person by myself.

So, thank you for everyone who worked on this, because it affected me in any way. And this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the fandom!

Thank you so much @nameless-nowhere​ for being so considerate and notifying me about my stolen meta! <3 And @chazukekani​​​ @ckjbun​​​ for your overall support and kind words!

Are we happy that this matter is resolved and the posts are taken down? Yes, very much and probably very relieved too.

Are we glad that they apologized? Also yes kinda, I’m glad for the fact that they apologized and weren’t just quiet about it, tho they were downplaying the whole situation kinda and didn’t even mention which post is from which blog and hence not really giving the other tumblr bloggers enough recognition. But yeah, it’s much better than nothing ig?

Does this mean your frustration just goes away? Hell nah. Only because someone apologized, doesn’t mean that your anger and distress *poof* vanishes instantly.

It doesn’t matter if you’re “late” @along-came-atsushi. You are more than entitled to defend yourself and vent about this situation, especially if it helps you cope with all this shit.

I hope everyone can take the time to read this and thus lending Sin-san an ear, “listening” to and acknowledging their concerns, because that and much more is what they deserve.
