Back in the ps2 days I would have gotten a booklet with game instructions and lore, a booklet on how to not have a seizure while playing the system, and a coupon for a gaming magazine that doesn’t exist anymore.
it makes me sad as hell. I use to pour over that little booklet 5 or 6 times before even starting the game. I’d look at all the little concept art and lore. I’d try to imagine what the game would be like in my head based on what the game prompted me with. I’d imagine being in the world myself and what the heck the dash button meant.
Now concept art and stuff is added as paid DLC or a deluxe, gold, platinum, legacy etc, bullshit content. I miss when games weren’t made to be cash grabs

something very amusing about the people who speak authoritatively about what it means to be lgbt (or let's be real they often are saying queer lol) in terms of like. "we sure love iced coffees and harry styles and being useless!!!!!!" but they'd absolutely get very nervous about poppers or gay guys armpit licking or lesbians sucking the boob sweat or girlfag boydykes etc and it's like. maybe you can find something else to speak authoritatively about. something else to make your identity about. maybe like... being upper middle class or being afraid of conflict
