"And this is why I like you fairy maids. So full of youth and vigor and full of surprises to keep unwanted guests on their toes."

"Now who was the one who spoke up first? You will be rewarded for your service with a hug." That's what Sakuya does, right?

"Oh, that would be..."

"ROSEMARY, RUN!"

They all scatter.

"Just to make sure you understand something, the fairy maids are off limits."

"We are the innocent heart of the mansion, youthful and unsullied. Not to be gazed at in such a way."

Image

"We may drink like adults and play lethal pranks, but we are still children in most ways."

Image

"And enough of us are born from poisonous plants to liquefy your insides while you're still alive."

"So, we fairy maids have been having a debate over the last few days, and we've ranked the Mansion's residents by who gives the best or worst hugs."

Image

"It may seem like nothing much, but for fairies hugs are a big deal."

"This is objective truth, we won't be taking constructive criticism."

Mansion Residents Hugs Ranked.

1: Patchouli Knowledge. "It's rare for her to ever hug, but you can bet that it's the best. She's so fluffy and cozy, and she always smells of fragrant herbs and tea. You can hug her too, and usually she'll be fine with it. But if you annoy her she won't let you near her for a week." - Unnamed Pink Library Maid

2: Hong Meiling. "She's not as soft as Lady Patchouli, but she understands gentle! She's able to relax her muscles just right, so even though she's so well-built you'll never feel like you're in an iron embrace. Also, since she's so friendly, she's the most willing to give a hug when asked. But be careful, if you ask too much, she'll find some work for you to do." - Rosemary Pines, Garden Maid

3: Koakuma. "She's very friendly, and usually willing to hug. She can be a bit... much, though, and she can easily get carried away. Make sure if you're getting a hug from her, you're flying first, or you may risk suffocating in her bosom. If you get a hug from her, expect to be carried around for the rest of the day." - Unnamed Purple Library Maid

4: Sakuya Izayoi "It's very rare, but Sakuya does give good hugs. She'll usually only do it to calm an upset fairy having a bad day, or if asked as a reward for doing a good job. Just don't let her catch you slacking off too much, or she'll punish you real bad." - Cherry Thimble, Living Quarters Maid

5: Flandre Scarlet "The lady give the best hugs! And by that I mean no one can compare in raw hugging power! You will feel secure in her embrace, and you'll never have fear of the world beyond her! That said, sometimes she'll hug just a little too hard, and you might pop. It's fine though, it's worth getting the risk for such a reassuring hug!" - Eliza Nevermore, Basement Maid

6: Remilia Scarlet "Easily the worst at hugging in the Mansion. Lady Remilia's embrace has all the comforting capacity of an Iron Maiden. Even if it doesn't kill you, it will feel awkward, and you'll feel super uncomfortable. You'll probably have bruises from it too. But if you show your discomfort too openly, it'll annoy her and she'll just kill you. If Lady Remilia offers to hug you, it's probably just better to provoke her into killing you quickly. Try punching her in the nose, her face when you do is pretty funny." - Salty Bones, Main Hall Maid

"OH GOD IT'S SO SALTY! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE'S SUGAR IN THIS?!"

Image

"Ah, another failed attempt. I'll try again tomorrow."

Avatar
Image

"Hey, did I hear that right, Salty can't taste anything?" Cherry and Rosemary are outside the kitchen door, watching to make sure Remilia doesn't die from salt-intake.

Image

"...yeah, she can't. Or rather, her taste is really dulled down. She also has trouble hearin' things like music or bird songs, an' she's near colour-blind too. If you slap her across the face, she barely notices too. Anythin' that could stir a girl to... well, you get it. Salty ain't alright, an' the girl herself can't even feel bad about it."

"Hearing about it makes me want to cry."

"Don't let her hear you say that. She can still hurt a little."

(For Salty Bones)

"Right, so you're today's baker? Usually I only eat what Sakuya makes but, I get it. She can't be around all the time."

Image

"Well based on looks alone this is... Uh-huh... Well, I can't say I don't like trying new things, so consider yourself lucky Miss... whateveryournameis." Remilia slices a small piece off with a fork, and places it in her mouth.

AS soon as it touches her tongue, she stops in place. A look of uncertainty is given before she starts chewing. Slowly. After painfully chewing the salty piece of cake, she reluctantly swallows. Her fork is set back down on the plate, and she looks towards the fairy.

Image

"Yeah... Um, this is very unique. Say, I gotta ask. What the fuck was that?"

Avatar
Image

"Lady Remilia? Well this is a surprise, I was expecting Cherry to be my taste-tester this time. I've been trying to get back into cooking again, but it's hard to find anyone else willing to try my food. I can't taste anything, so I have to get the opinions of others."

After Remi somehow survives a bite of cake, Salty seems, mildly surprised?

Image

"I followed the same recipe that the other maids use, to the letter. But judging by your response I'm to assume the salt content is much too high?" She doesn't seem overly distraught over the failure. "It seems I still need to try harder to rein in my nature. My apologies."

"I understand what you mean, but it is an accident which a hell fairy took advantage of, and... if every evidence of that were erased in my mind, then I'd lose who I was too, even if those memories were fake."

Image

"It'll be really tough, but... like Seiga said, in the end, I'm still Flandre, just with someone else's memories... or at least, I'm trying to be."

Image

"Well, it's true that if we wipe that boy away now, you'll be left empty. And empty is..."

Image

"Hum, what to do here... I want that boy gone, but an empty... well, a crow would..."

Image

"...of course!"

Image

"The solution is simple. We'll fill you with so much of your proper self, it will push that boy out on its own. You'll never be left empty, but we'll get you back without that boy being left behind. Like filling a glass with a heavier liquid, so that it pushes the water out."

"Eliza Nevermore. You miss your Little Sister, don't you? Your light in the darkness? The one whom the basement fairies worship? I can sense your distrust, you know? How you wish to make her to your liking. The perfect version of Flandre."

"It's sad, isn't it? Her personality mixed with some boy from the Outside World... impure. Sad. And if this keeps up, she'll slip further from the ideal vampire you know and love."

She plants a knife on her hand. Sharp. Cold. Deadly. Helia, the Witch, then strokes the other on her cheek.

Image

"You know what to do. Do not disappoint."

"..."

Image

"The disappointing one is you." She takes that dagger, flips it around, and drives it down into her own palm.

Image

"This isn't a place for confused little hell fairies to dwell. This abyss is a place where neither god nor the devil may interfere." Helia would find the room around her cast into a pitch darkness, where no light can shine nor can the ability to see in the dark give her sight. "You are such a bore." When the light returns, Helia is left outside the door to the basement, which is locked from the inside.
