au in which wicky is traded to the falcs and naturally ollie moves to providence with him. do bitty opens them back into the area with open arms obviously, but to be honest, he is a little confused about why ollie is here as well. like he knows they're best friends, but it seems a little excessive to move across the country just for your best friend. so after 4 months of this confusion, bitty eventually plucks up the courage to ask and ollie just stops dead in his tracks. "what do you mean why did i move with him? i'm his husband?"

Prompt-First Impressions

Okay, look, I wrote this before I realized we actually had seen Tango and Ford’s first time interacting with each other, so let’s just all forget about that. Also, this is the shittiest piece I’ve written in actual years. Don’t judge me.

The library is not a place to play music.

At least, not of the traditional variety.

Here’s a piano- solid and dependable, simple yet complex: “What were your first impressions of me? Because, like, you guys are my best friends, but that’s now, and. Well, I liked you from the start, Ford, you’ve always been really nice to me, and you’re super smart and passionate about stuff, but Whiskey, I kinda thought you were really stuck-up? Like, you gave off this vibe that you thought everyone else was beneath you. I know better now, of course, but when we first met.”

Here’s a cello- deep and rich, beautiful and smooth: “Honestly? I thought you were kinda annoying. I don’t anymore, but I had to, like, get to know you.”

Here’s a flute- light and airy, fun and bright: “What about me, Connor? I know I thought you seemed kinda like a turtle stuck inside your shell.”

The cello joins in again: “I kind saw you as a sister right off the bat. Or maybe not, like, a sister, but a close cousin.”

A laugh and a triumphant trill and an “I knew he loved me,” from the flute to the piano.

“He totally does. What did you think of me, though?” The piano likes to jump octaves and keys quite often. The cello and the flute have gotten used to it, and try their best to stay in harmony.

“Well, if Connor was a turtle, you were like a really talkative parrot. Flapping around a lot, kind of saying whatever was on your mind. You’re still kinda like that. It’s endearing, though.”

“That’s cool! Thanks, guys.”

The cello yawns and stretches. “Sure, dude. You guys want coffee?”

An abrupt end to this song, but this trio will be performing many, many encores.

gang I need your help I have a phrase I really want to catch on and it’s calling any secret or invisible struggle you have a “fight with a gorilla” like the onion article. if they can have cinnamon roll catch on this can too. “yeah she told me about it, I had no idea, sounds like a real fight with a gorilla” “sorry man I can’t come I’ve really been fighting the gorilla lately” do you see the vision

folks i appreciate the effort but it looks like this will not breach containment and the phrase will not catch on. looks like this cause has to be my own personal gorilla to fight

Trail Magic (Check Please!)

A gift for @ficcinghell! This Check Please fic was written AND typeset by @tiesthatbindery and features the frogs on the Appalachian Trail. I continue to love doing layered covers and mimicked the section of the AT that the boys hiked (Katahdin to around Allenstown).

The original typeset was for folio size, but I wanted it to feel a bit like a pocket book you would have gotten in the 70s so I shrunk it down to legal quarto. My original plan was to paint the edges in bronze but the bronze paint failed miserably, so I trimmed it off and painted with green ink instead, which further contributes to that retro novel vibe.

I used Lokta paper with a fern pattern for the endpapers as well as the underlayer in the cover.

Denois' typeset was understandably perfect already, and I am very grateful I got to use it! The immaculate retro vibes are wonderful.
