Music played softly from the radio on the shelf behind Frank's chair. It was early on a Monday and Frank was trying to focus on all the reports that had accumulated over the weekend. Two of the files were off to the side as Frank knew they came from his sons. Both Danny and Jamie had missed Sunday dinner due to work and he knew also that the pair were working a case together so to have two separate reports was concerning. However, he trusted his sons, both as their superior and their father.
An hour had passed since Frank had arrived at the office and he was finally ready to read through his sons' reports, however a knock at his door interrupted him. It opened before he could call out and Detective Baker slipped into the room. "Sorry sir. There is a Dr. William Tyler on line one for you. He said he couldn't get through to you on your cell. Do you want me to transfer him?" At hearing the name of his cardiologist, Frank closes Danny's report file and nods. "Please and no disruptions for the next hour. Thank you Baker." He let the call ring through once before he picked up the earpiece. "Dr. Tyler." Frank greeted professionally before he continued. "Will...tell me something good."
There was a deep sigh from the other end of the line and a shuffling of paper before a voice finally spoke. "Frank, I have good news and not so good news. Which would you like first?" Frank hesitated for only a second before he answered. "Just hit me with it all Will."
Another sigh and more paper shuffles came through the phone and Frank actually began to worry about what his doctor and long time friend had to tell him. "All the tests came back clear. There's no blockage. But Frank -" Frank closed his eyes, knowing what was coming. "What you experienced last Thursday was a mini stroke."
