Today’s obsession: ‘Fasciation‘ in plants, which is the elaborate ‘warping’ or banding in the apical meristem (growing tip) of vascular plants occasionally caused by hormonal, genetic, bacterial, fungal, viral and environmental factors.. 🌼🌸

So it just dawned on me that not everyone grew up making these! I thought all of you cottagecore/faecore/etc etc friends would like to know how to make:

Hollyhock Faeries!!

Things needed (per doll):

• 1 bloomed hollyhock

• 1 hollyhock bud

• 2 toothpicks

• sharpie

To connect the head and dress/body, stab one toothpick through the top of the flower where the stem was, leaving a bit of room. Then stab the bud (head) on top of the remaining bit of toothpick, also through the bit where the stem used to be. Then take the second toothpick and stab it horizontally through the top of the flower to make the arms. Then take your sharpie and draw a lil face on the bud! That easy!

These little dolls were my absolute best friends when I was little. I used to make dozens of them and read allowed to them, and have tea parties in the garden with them. I hope you all enjoy them to :)

CHEDDAR BISCUITS RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • Biscuits:

2 1/2 cups Bisquick

4 Tablespoons cold butter

1 cup cheddar cheese shredded

3/4 cup milk

1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • Butter Glaze:

3 Tablespoons butter

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

3/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease or line one cookie sheet with parchment; set aside.

Combine Bisquick with cold butter in a medium bowl using a pastry cutter (I just use a fork to cut the butter into the mixture). Don’t worry about mixing too thoroughly; there will be small chunks of butter in the mix about the size of peas. Add cheddar cheese, milk, and garlic powder. Mix by hand until combined, but don’t over mix.

Drop 1/4 cup portions of the dough onto the lightly greased or parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake for 11-13 minutes in preheated oven or until the tops of the biscuits begin to turn light brown.

While the biscuits are baking, melt butter is a small bowl in the microwave. Stir in garlic powder and dried parsley flakes.

After biscuits have come out of the oven, use a brush to spread the garlic butter over the tops of all the biscuits. Sprinkle a little kosher salt on the freshly coated biscuits. Makes one dozen.

so today I made this syrup which is basically just concentrated rose lemonade, you mix it with water and boom you got some rose lemonade :)

ROSE LEMONADE SYRUP

Ingredients:

2 cup lemon juice (I did 1.5 cups lemon juice and the rest lime juice bc I ran out)

1.5 cup sugar

½ cup dried edible roses (or rose petals, I just found full dried roses at my local Asian market)

rose water to taste (optional if rose flavor isn’t strong enough)

Instructions:

Mix ingredients together in a medium saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer for 5 minutes. Allow to cool to room temperature (takes about an hour). Strain out roses and put syrup in a container and refrigerate for future use. To make the lemonade, mix 3-5 tbsp. syrup with 8oz cold water, pour over ice, and enjoy :)
