For some reason most of xkit won’t...work, the following tab informs me that every single blog I follow is secondary when that’s not true, and I imagine the vast majority of people I wrote with are MIA, so I’m going to take this as my cue to just remake entirely. I’ll throw a link up when I’m done and tumblr allows it to show up on-dash, all that lovely stuff.

“You think I’ll get away with it?” It was almost a rhetorical question, but the thing about luck is that it has a funny way of running out at the least opportune times. Ever since the Russian head honcho had approached him the idea had been niggling away at the back of his brain. They had struck a deal, use of the docks for a huge pay-day, plus compensation for the bullshit they put Jimmy through. It was a good deal. But Jimmy figured he’d make more money shifting whatever the hell they were shipping in.
“I got’ta be honest with you, Raven, I got’ta wonder how much fight I’ve got left in me. Don’t think I can afford to take another bullet.”
How long did anybody get away with anything, really? The important wins seemed generally doomed, karma in motion, omnipresent as gravity. She assumed he knew that, he was too old and too smart not to. It was a different question when asked by someone sharp, which warranted a longer pause. Get away with it. It might have been the theatrical spirit in her, but she was all too suddenly aware of how fragile people were, really. Play smart, swagger about as you please, but one will timed piece of fast metal and that was that. A cigarette would have been nice; she settled for drumming her nails on her arm.
“I think you can get away, or you can have it. It pains me to suggest it, but we might have reached the point in these stories where it makes the most sense to do the deed, hastily, then - cut and run. You’re not going to want to pick a fight with that mindset, and you won’t manage that stunt for long. They’ll know, and I’m sure they’ve got the means to find you if you make too big a dent, or stick too close around. The stresses of your line of work, you must be retirement aged.” There was a dry, darkly amused smile at that. “Option A. Option B is a blaze of greedy glory, and Option C is continuing as already planned, and putting this conversation out of your mind.”

// I really enjoy your Raven / Mystique because you create a balance between the person that she would like to be and the person that she actually is. I find it refreshing that she can fill people with dread while just holding a casual conversation with them about something as inane as architecture. It's good, too , that you try to write her as someone who isn't a complete narcissistic or a complete bitch to everyone around her. You get her and that's a very good thing.
How’s My Driving?
This is framed in my brain, delicately and with much love. Always elated to get approval from someone who has a legitimate like/respect for the character and likely better knowledge across mediums, it’s very reassuring! She’s definitely tricky - there’s a unique ability that’s only at its best when she is, and xm/cu at least presents her in a much more malleable, human state than is the average. Legitimately intimidating but not un-personable is the best I can hope for - ahhh, many thanks, many aggressive thanks--

well that was a bit of miscommunication there. sometimes he forgets that not quite everyone realises that tony is basically his dad at this point.

“That is one way to put it,” muttered Erik with a light shrug of his shoulders. It was true how much the gaps seemed to spread between times when their ideals linked up for the better good. It felt like Erik’s seemed to always split off at the last moment.
“You think I like the struggle?” Erik had to laugh at that but still her point wasn’t something to simply be brushed to the side. “So you see me as an unlucky masochist, is that it, Raven?” Perhaps it wasn’t so far-fetched, he did seem to take the most self-destructive paths with his tendency to believe that the end justified the means. Even if that end took a lot of self-hardship to accomplish. Splitting off a piece of his soul with every terroristic act.
“Not necessarily in a way that, say, you wake up in the morning and think ‘who can I fight today’, but it’s...” Raven paused, eyes on his, trying and failing to come up with a witty analogy. “It’s justifying. You like being proactive, you like equal footing, it’s gratifying to know you’re doing the hard work for other people. Put-upon, but very strong, very reckon-y.”
Not entirely unlike her or Charles, just another flavor. Her earlier remark had been serious: she wasn’t going to attempt any actual psychoanalysis, but she could speculate, sate his curiosity.
