Anyone who downloads any version of the pickpocket mod after 12/1 will already have the updated copy. This is the only file that needs to be replaced - keep the other ones as they are.
A texture pack for @earlypleasantview's control plate & bowl, with seven new textures by me.
For those who're not familiar with these mods: you can buy a control plate or bowl under appliances/misc. After being placed anywhere on a lot, sims will use plates or bowls with the textures of the control object. You can change the texture by clicking the control object with an active sim. It's very simple and super neat!
I also included a remapped version of the dinner plate mesh that improves how the undersides of the plates look with these textures:
The replacement is optional. It shouldn't change how single-colored texture defaults for plates look like and some patterned ones won't look worse, either.
Since I use the smoother bowl default by @pforestsims myself, I made an edit of the control bowl that doesn't conflict with it and uses PF's smoother mesh as the control object. Likewise, I made an edit of the control plate that uses a stack of my remapped plates as the control object.
Both edits are optional. Just delete Earlypleasantview's versions if you want to use my edits.
The files are compressed. All textures are 256x256.
Additional credit to @whysim for the texture base. The patterns came from Freepik and Vecteezy, nothing AI-generated.

Well, after some research I noticed that a vp6 codec was missing in my system, so I downloaded that file from modthesims and now my tv is working! I really love the quality of the channels now! thank you.

I’m very sad to report that Sims 3 and 4 creator CmarNYC passed away in October 2023. For 15 years, Simmers benefited from Cmar’s long-honed computing skills as she created much-loved modders’ and players’ tools, including the Sims 3 and 4 MorphMakers and Skininators, the TS4 SimRipper, the Sims 3 XCAS core mod, and many CAS sliders. She was also a contributor to S4PE, which likely was used by creators you rely on. Without Cmar’s work, the Sims franchise would have had a much less rich array of mods and custom content. She will be greatly missed.
As well as Sims, Cmar loved cats, and donations are suggested to the ASPCA, the TinyKittens Society, or an animal-related charity near you.
Omg 😔So sorry to hear this! CmarNYC was such a well-known beacon in the sims modding community and their contributions will be missed greatly 😭

CmarNYC's meshtoolkit has also been used by Sims 2 creators to convert clothing from the later games. What a loss for the simming community. Condolences to those who knew her.

There's no content there now, but if you look at her archived profile through the wayback machine there's a lot of old content (which she has never uploaded on her website, Digital Perversion/Garden of Shadows).

Hello! I've been using your Relationship Restricted Autonomous Kleptomaniac version of the pickpocket mod, and I noticed that when sims pickpocket sims in their household, it just adds extra money to the household funds. I'm not sure if this is something you'd be able or want to fix, but I thought I'd mention it, in case you could. Thanks for everything you share!
Hi! I think it should all even out, right? With the household losing money when the pickpocketing happens, then gaining the same amount? I don't have time to check it today, but if the home is actually gaining money I'll fix it when I get a chance.
As long as the adsense revenue and donations cover most of the costs, GoS isn't going anywhere. So far my out of pocket cost is less than 25% of the total costs for the site, which is within my budget still. I'm hoping this coming year will be the same but ad revenue is down. I understand ads suck and do my best to remove the auto generated page take over ones and keep them small.
But you know what scraping the site does? Increases bandwidth and server load which costs me more money. This annoys me. I have a budget man.
If I were not willing/able to continue, then there would be an announcement on GoS. All costs are paid annually. The biggest in May which is the hosting itself, the domains are scattered throughout the year. All in it's only about $225 annually.
I mean, if someone is concerned about the state of the site, they could. I dunno. Ask someone?

I know it's a longshot, but does anyone know this programming language? Ammar, who is working on the Open TS2 project with @lazyduchess figued out how to import Sims 2 animations into Unity. Very impressive, and it even handles face morphs. I was hoping some Sims fan could take that work and use it to build a Blender animation importer/exporter. I asked a couple of people who are proficient in python, but they couldn't take the project on.
Progress on figuring out TS2 effects. Ammar, who is working on OpenTS2 with me, did some amazing work figuring out the effects format, and we found some hidden functionality in TS2 that allows us to edit effects more easily:
Effects in TS2 control a ton of things, most obviously particle effects like the musical notes in hood deco, clouds, fire, smoke, but also decals (like the farm fields in hood view), hood flybys, the skybox, even camera movements like the zoom animation in CAS.
We weren't able to mod these before! Still tons of research to be done.
Here are the effects in action in OpenTS2 (implementation is still early)

I have a suggestion. How about ghostbusting in Sims 2. Like create animated glowing ghost objects and place them all over the lot. The sim walks up to a ghost object and zap it away using the repo gun shooting animation, the ghost then vanishes or "dies". You get paid for each defeated ghost. What do you think?
Fun idea. I'm not modding atm, but maybe someone will be inspired by this
Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to disable autonomous stealing from vampires? Creatures of the night are supposed to have heightened senses and all that. I use wampire walkbys mod and my kleptomaniac sim just won't stop running after each poor vampire townie that was passing by and robbing them until I stop her xD
I know this is pretty old, but I'm just seeing it now. I'm not modding right now, but I'll make this public in case anyone else wants to take it on. There is someone working on an edit to the pickpocket mod (they aren't making this particular version), but maybe it'll interest them as well.
I just wanted to report that your Magic Dueling mod works wonderfully in my game. I use it alongside story progression, chris hatch's globe/global override mods, religion mods, hereditary supernaturalism, midge's spell mods, and others just fine. I finally have a legit competition activity for my HS and college students. Thanks!
