This kinda hurts to say, and this is def due to the dissonance between gameplay and story, but Kieran telling the villagers the truth about Ogerpon...doesn't really do anything.

The village head is a money-grubbing sellout. Japan does have an issue in real life in which their rural villages are becoming ghost towns due to everyone moving out to the cities, but some are getting by via appealing to tourists with their unique products and attractions. All Mossui Village has besides their orchards and rice paddies is the legend of the three heroes that sacrificed themselves to stop the rampaging ogre, and the village head isn't willing to let the false story die if it means the revenue goes with it. He pretty much explicitly says so to your face.

So who cares if the locals know the truth? The false story is the one still being advertised to outsiders, with the sign boards still up, the Loyal Three monument rebuilt, and Ogre Oustin' continuing. No wonder Ogerpon wants to go with you.

Carmine also admits her hostility is fueled by not wanting her home being reduced to a tourist trap, so uh, it's probably good that we never tell either of them this.

Lol, art goof. Helmet went from long sleeves to short sleeves.

That said, kinda hoping Helmet keeps the fall uniform with the short sleeves in the volumes. I like the look.

Also, unless they transferred schools, that's the wrong uniform. Note the lack of stripes.

personally, who’s your favorite Pokédex holder and who’s your least favorite?

My absolute favorite would be X. The two behind him are Y and Lack-Two, in that order. XY arc was my first Spe arc so it holds a special place in my heart. I also wrote a lot about Y and X over the years, which helps. I actually thought Lack-Two sucked based on earlier fandom reaction, but I grown to like him because he's really neat to me and a tragic character whose journey seems to span over multiple arcs.

My least favorites are Black and White. I can go on a long rant why I don't like them, but basically: I don't find Black engaging and I blame him for screwing up White's development, and White in BW2 remaining stagnant with her two unevolved Pokemon and actually losing her core character goal of being a successful businesswoman to finding Black (even if she couldn't) for Agency shiptease, which is horrible writing in so many ways. The fandom hype around them also contributed to my dislike of them. They also took the spotlight from Lack-Two and Whi-Two, the official protagonists of the arc that I actually am more invested in, leaving them underdeveloped too. I'm glad Whi-Two shows up in XY epilogue and Lack was in SM, but I wish more was done with them.

"and White in BW2 remaining stagnant with her two unevolved Pokemon and actually losing her core character goal of being a successful businesswoman to finding Black (even if she couldn't) for Agency shiptease, which is horrible writing in so many ways."

That is quite literally the opposite of what the story says, but okay.

A revelation I had recently

Steven's dad, President Joseph Stone, is a horrible person in the manga, and nobody ever talks about it. He killed Aster so he could imprison and experiment on Rayquaza, and gets away scott-free.

It was an accident, and he apologized for it.

And he didn’t get away with it. Zinnia both freed Rayquaza and later destroyed the dimensional shifter, meaning his actions were all for nothing.

Also, this isn’t an “in the manga” thing. Joseph being morally gray is taken directly from his portrayal in ORAS, where he casually admits that the Devon Corporation was built on Infinity Energy, aka Pokemon life energy.

That ship that Devon made to get into the Seafloor Cavern where Groudon/Kyogre slept? Fueled by dead Pokemon.

The rockets the Mossdeep Space Center use? Fueled by dead Pokemon.

The aforementioned dimensional shifter? Fueled by dead Pokemon.

See? He even points out it’s wrong.

He was never that good a person to begin with.

Devon is built on a pile of Pikachu corpses and he (Steven included, though I feel him closing his eyes is supposed to imply he has some regrets) does nothing to stop it.
