Bartolomeo the Cannibal from One Piece
faux leather, poly satin, faux fur, cotton, eva foam, heat transfer vinyl
The pants were the most arduous part of this piece, being made of over 500 bias-cut squares that were pieced together and then assembled. Since it was all on the bias, after tracing the squares I had to hand-baste all the markings so it wouldn’t stretch out during assembly.

tamamo no mae from onmyoji
silk, silk dye, rattail cord, foil, wood, vinyl, faux fur, styrene
this was one of the most arduous projects i’ve ever undertaken. all 30 yards of silk on this costume is hand dyed and painted using silk paints, and then foiled, french seamed, bound, and hand-hemmed, totalling out to about 90 feet of handhemming overall. all of the accessories are self-made, including the custom drum, geta sandals, airbrushed fox tails, laser cut styrene ornaments and fan, and tassels. it took about 6 months from start to finish.

gentle criminal from my hero academia
wool, steel boning, cotton sateen, neoprene
what started as a relatively simple build turned into a myriad of opportunities to try new techniques. i played with proportions using the balloon-shaped pants and the exaggerated collar. the fabric the pants was manually pinstriped by inserting embroidery thread into the bobbin. the "scarf" or muff around the neck was an experiment in smocking neoprene, which worked to incredible results.
