Hi, Tumblr! Meet my game! ๐Ÿ–ค ๐Ÿ–คFree to play demo out now: https://yamino.itch.io/black-rose-revue

Here's a sneaky peek at some of the many, many more illustrations I am working on for the full version of this game!

The full game is still far from complete, but if you liked the demo you're going to be blown out of the water by what our team is putting together!

trying to explain to tumblr that the Middle Class in not their enemy

saw someone say that someone complaining about only having 7k in savings makes them contemplate โ€œdoing something badโ€

you know that 7k covers like. one hospital visit WITH insurance, right?

โ€œpeople who make six figures shouldnโ€™t be allowed to complain โ€”โ€œ most people who make six figures are, these days, solidly middle class. where i live, a combined household income of $110k is *lower middle class*.

โ€œpeople who can afford homes โ€”โ€œ are typically 400-600k in debt for them. also if โ€œcan own your own homeโ€ is your threshold for the rich you are contemplating eating, i think you are genuinely stupid

โ€œboohoo your investments dropped, stop complaining rich boyโ€ idk how to tell you this but. most of us have a retirement account. you should probably open one

If one grain of rice represents $200,00, which is the median net worth of an American (and more than half of Americans have less than half one grain of rice for this analogy), compare to the visual of Elon Musks combined net worth of $400 BILLION DOLLARS:

Can we please be serious and focus on the billionaires who are dismantling our country and selling it for parts?

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธtony's chocolonely chocolate bar recall due to rocks๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

literally, due to rocks. they got rocks in them

april 2, 2025

Tonyโ€™s Chocolonely Inc., a New York, New York Corporation, is voluntarily recalling seven lots of Tonyโ€™s brand Dark Almond Sea Salt Bar (6.35oz); and Everything Bar (6.35oz) because the product may contain small stones. The products were distributed nationwide and sold in the United States via retail stores and www.tonyschocolonely.com; distribution of the products began February 7, 2025 and ended March 24, 2025.

emphasis mine.

this recall only affects some lots of the dark almond sea salt bar and the everything bar, due to the rock problem. they were distributed nationwide in stores and on the internet. I included their pictures at the top.

I am not able to format a table for tumblr, so check that recall link for the specific lot codes and expiration dates.

The recall was initiated following 12 reports of consumers finding small stones in the product not filtered during third-party almond harvesting and the almond processing process. All complaints occurred outside of the United States and Canada, and no injuries were reported.

they found rocks after there were 12 reports that said hey. there are rocks in this. this can easily lead to dental problems if someone tries to bite full force on a rock and breaks a tooth or otherwise injures their mouth. dental infections can eventually become life-threatening even in people who are young and otherwise healthy. so it is a good thing nobody apparently ate the rocks yet. or at least, nobody got injured while potentially eating rocks. yet

If you have purchased one of the affected products with the specified lot codes and have not yet consumed it, you are advised not to eat the product. Please return the product to the store of purchase for a refund or replacement or dispose of the product. Please consult the following webpage to confirm how to identify the lot code and claim a refund or replacement in your market: https://us.tonyschocolonely.com/pages/recall-fo-intl-0325

emphasis mine.

please do not the rocks. thank you

2025 had a record setting 157 food recalls in Q1 alone. Most are for listeria and salmonella, but sometimes they're for rocks in your chocolate or wood in your Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli.

Deregulation of food safety is so profitable for companies. You don't get a refund when they admit whoopsies, your Alehouse Clam Chowder and Smoked Salmon Chowder are infected with Clostridium botulinum. They already have your money! It's up to you to stay on top of the recalls and throw away everything that's contaminated.

This isn't just annoying - it's lethal.

Every listeria and salmonella recall notice comes with a warning that X people have been hospitalized and Y people have died. That's how they trace the listeria - by working backwards from known infections. Those numbers only reflect insured people whose doctors or the ER thought to check, so they don't include the poor and uninsured. The real hospitalizations and deaths are so much higher.

If you're poor, you're not throwing away perfectly good food - especially if you got this food from a food pantry. You'd think the recalled foods would go in the trash, but last fall when cucumbers were lethal they were plentiful at food pantries. Same for the listeria broccoli and bagged salad mixes. I bet there will be surprise chocolate bar treats at pantries in the near future.

Groceries get a tax credit for all food donated to a pantry, regardless of whether it's safe, so this is a win-win for them. They get it away from the paying customers and get social good credit for donating X pounds of food per year to the poor.

This is all due to food safety deregulation.

It doesn't have to be this way. If you're already calling or emailing your local reps and throwing a fit about Trump's policies, add food safety to your rant. Let them know we remember when a food recall was shocking, and those are the Good Old Days we long for.

It's not just to have a "do over" that doesn't involve the original cast, it's to cut them out of the royalties. Literally the entire point is to make sure all the money made by Harry Potter goes to transphobes or people willing to work with transphobes.

If you watch it, you are supporting bigotry, hate, and oppression. That's just objective reality. All for a story that you probably have already seen in movie and book form.

There's people in the notes saying they're going to watch it anyway, and you know, I understand how you can start feeling so burned out and numb from the world that it may feel too hard to avoid things that will give you a little immediate relief in some way in order to avoid the long-term impact of funding these things.

But. If you can't bring yourself to avoid watching it, you better at least fucking pirate it.

Hey, look at me. Look at me. Iโ€™ve said it once and Iโ€™ll say it again: you need to condition yourself to being okay with being inconvenienced by things. The first time I spoke about this I meant it in a mental health way- it is good to go out to the store and see people versus just ordering alone at home- but there is another more pressing societal issue you should be more concerned about as well.

Any service you rely on for convenience can be weaponized against you the moment you begin to rely on it. Streaming used to be a cheap and convenient way to see movies at home. It is now exorbitantly expensive, you need multiple accounts just to get what you want, and any of those movies can be taken from you at any time. And unless you have gotten used to going through the โ€œinconvenienceโ€ of owning physical media, you can do nothing about it. Same goes for buying things on Amazon. Same goes for any service like DoorDash etc. These companies WANT you to be reliant on them for convenience so they can do whatever they want to you because, well, what else are you gonna do?

Same thing goes for the uptick in AI. If you train yourself to become reliant on AI for doing basic things, you will be taken advantage of. It is only a matter of a couple years before there are no free AI services. Not only that, but in the usage of AIโ€™s case, it is robbing you of valuable skills that you need to curate that you will be helpless without the moment the AI companies drive in the knife the way they have done with streaming. Delivery. Cable. Internet. Etc. It will happen to AI too. And if you are not practicing skills such as. Writing. You are not only going to be at the mercy of AI companies in the digital world, but you are going to be extremely easy to take advantage of in real life too.

I am begging you to let go of learned helplessness. I am begging you to stop letting these companies TEACH you helplessness. Do something like learn to pirate. It is way more inconvenient at the beginning, but once you know how, it is one less way companies can take advantage of you. Garden. Go to the thrift store (older clothes hold up better anyway). These things take more time and effort, yes, but using time and effort are muscles you need to stretch to keep yourself from being flattened under the weight of our capitalist hellscape.

Inconvenience yourself. Please. Start with only the ways you are able. Do a little bit at a time. But do something.

I know it's hard, but it's worth it, I promise.

Oh my god please this!

Also paying for generative AI is already starting to happen!

Over the last 3 months I have had countless emails from various library vendors about each company's new "AI assistant". Many of them are at an additional cost to libraries. Other's are "free", for now. They are all problematic in an academic setting as generative AI tools can go against academic code of conduct policies.

Now, these AI assistants don't give you a full essay and at least give you scholarly and peer reviewed citations but I know, I KNOW, students will use the paragraph summaries to write their papers and be done with it.

Generative AI searches are not research.

Generative AI searches provide you with what is the statistically most likely answer. NOT what the answer is.

Critical thinking is and extremely valuable skill, especially now. The ability to step back and evaluate information you are being told is a step towards not being duped by propaganda. None of us are immune to propaganda!

So please, please, do not rob yourself of the ability to think. Do not give others the keys to take advantage of you. Do not submit in advance!

just wanted to share the National Down Syndrome Societyโ€™s message for this yearโ€™s World Down Syndrome Day (21st March) ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™

Powerful message that lovingly includes multiple disabilities, united. I love this.

The plains spadefoot (Spea bombifrons) is toadally cute. But did you know that this stout amphibian, which inhabits arid regions of western North America, is an โ€œexplosiveโ€ breeder? Hundreds of individuals gather en masse to mate. Afterwards, females can lay as many as 2,000 eggs! These eggs might hatch in as few as two days, and the resulting tadpoles can develop rapidly, sometimes maturing in just 13 days. This species reproduces after warm heavy rains.
