stepping into his room, you saw your boyfriend half asleep at his desk. he lifted his head at the sound of his bedroom door clicking open, humming softly. you smiled at him — he was adorable when he looked so sleepy.

“hey,” you said, setting your bag by the door.

you walked by him, kissing the top of his head as you went. he hummed softly again, smiling. after ruffling his hair, you continued to make your way to his bed. you sat cross-legged at the foot of it, waiting for him to finish whatever it was he was working on.

a chime was heard in the room, followed by two more. curiously, you looked towards his phone. he did too, a similar look of confusion on his face.

then his eyes widened, and he quickly moved to click the ‘end call’ button on his computer screen.

“what’s wrong?”

you moved to peek at his phone. he’d unlocked it and showed you the message from suna before you’d even made your way over to his desk though.

“angel, i had my camera on.”

“oh. just tell them you’re studying with me or something.”

“no, i mean,” he looked worried. “you kissed me. on the head, sure, but you wouldn’t do that if we were ‘just studying’.”

the reason you’d decided to keep your relationship a secret was something he’d done to protect you. he loved you, and he of course he wouldn’t let you doubt yourself.

that didn’t change the fact that his fans could get a little... possessive.

you hummed, stepping forward to kiss his forehead. “it’s fine. i know not to believe petty, jealous little middle schoolers.”

he laughed at that. “alright then. but... tell me if something happens, okay?”

It’s as if the cold has robbed you of your breath, when you feel his fingers reach for yours in the cold. It’s all encompassing and tough - the way each finger is so purposeful as they curl around yours. You can feel his heartbeat in his wrists, through his hands. It’s loud, messy, but still hardened. You’re staring at him now, looking into his eyes for answers to questions neither of you have ever asked. 

“I love you,” tighter - he holds your hand a little tighter “Sorry.. i didn’t say it sooner,” 

It still isn’t delicate. But maybe there is comfort in the sturdiness that is his love. Maybe that sturdiness is what offers you the security to smile fondly and stare at the ground, letting loose tears fall and fall on the icy blacktop. The sturdiness that allows to reply 

“I love you too, Tobio,”

i love haikyuu so much. bc it’s just. so cute. i love how many characters there are and all of the useless, trivial information we have abt all of the characters. like how iwaizumi used to collect cicadas, only to let them go bc he said he’d feel bad if he kept them. how yamaguchi likes “long fries that have gone soft and floppy”. how kunimi likes salted caramel. how akaashi wrings his hands. how kuroo just happens to get top grades and slips all these scientific words into casual conversation. kenma’s username on everything is “applepi”. it’s just so cute. i love the character interactions, like when bokuto is looking out of the window in his pyjamas and he says “i’m glad it’s fukurodani who i could play my last match with” and akaashi is like “are u dying bokuto?” and bokuto says “what? i’m going to live until i’m 130″. and when shimizu holds suga’s hands when he’s visibly stressed and suga instantly goes red and swirly and he’s like “pls wait!!!!!! we can’t get married yet!!!!!”. and when kuroo and bokuto knowingly smile at each other and hug after nekoma are eliminated from nationals. when kenma smiles and thanks kuroo for getting him into volleyball and kuroo is like “… … … … … huh… …? … … W-WAIT…” and he covers his face and starts laughing and it’s rly cute. nobody is bad. kyoutani is really scary and only listens to iwaizumi, but only bc iwaizumi beat him at arm wrestling. a cunning, deceitful character like daishou has a rly pretty gf he tries to impress, and when they watch volleyball matches together he gets bashful bc he feels like he’s being a huge volleyball nerd but she calls him cool. i just don’t understand how a series is this cute. they’re all so cute. moniwa is so cute. goshiki is so cute. oikawa teaches volleyball to children on mondays. don’t even get me started on yachi

It was when bokuto noted how much he stared at you. He hadn’t noticed it, probably because he’d slowly been doing it more and more since he started developing feelings. But then he realized just how much time he’s lost, dedicated to watching you do menial tasks or simply taking in the beauty of your face.

━━ IWAIZUMI :

He had to be told by someone else. Partially because he didn’t want to believe it — out of fear of abandonment, maybe? He wasn’t sure why — and partially because he genuinely didn’t know what this feeling inside of him was. He knew he hated it, but he liked it, and it only came around when you were on his mind. Which, now that it’s come up, you have been running rampant in his head a lot more lately.

It changed when he saw the dejected look on your face though, the way your mouth opened and then closed when one of them interrupted you.
