How I've missed your Yoda-like wisdom. Your incomprehensible, needlessly complicated and obscure, wrapped in riddles, wisdom.

No one else is doing it like Max is doing it. We still don't even know this man's real name. He writes his diary in Vietnamese. He has seen god and the vast expanse of time. He doesn't understand Halloween. He's a single father. He's a homewrecker. He's died. He is a being of pure energy and light. He has commitment issues. He's an enigma. He speaks in riddles on purpose, solely for the bit.

I fucking love this man.

it's mostly spoken in jest; he adores guy gardner. for all the crap people talk about him, kyle would ask for no better sector partner. that said, rayner also knows the speedster is mostly kidding. they both had their issues — too many to count, at this point — but in the end, their partnership used to give good fruit. it's almost as if they were carrying on a legacy, considering how their predecessors were.

his faux offended expression switches into an easy smile as he shrugs.

"taking a break from space duty, doing the usual earth hero thing. y'know, the lantern thing. how about you? running in circles a lot still nowadays?"

Wally punched the other's shoulder playfully. Truth be told, he was surprised at how well they were managing to be civil at the moment. But, he'd done a lot of growing up in the past few years. Surely that had to count for something, right?

The speedster settled down, crossing his arms over his chest as he thought of an answer. So much had happened in his life, he honestly didn't know where to start. From his personal life with Dick, to his career at S.T.AR. Labs. His admittedly rocky start to picking up the torch after his uncle Barry -- Wally barely had time to think about everything.

"Oh, yeah? The Corps finally wised up and gave you the pink slip, huh? Sounds rough. As for me, I'm still doing the ol' song and dance back in Central. Nothing too exciting. I did get hitched, though. I'm almost a real adult now."

Wally rolled his eyes, but there was more amusement behind the gesture than anything. Even if he and Kyle never truly saw eye-to-eye in their shared history with the league, the speedster would be lying if he said didn't miss the green lantern. He'd never say that out loud, though.

"Well, shucks, Rayner. If I knew you'd be this happy to see me, I would have made the decision to annoy you a long time ago. How's my least favorite space cop?"
