i have questions! From the list! 7 - 19 - 25 - 28 - 30 - 37 - 40 (okay that's quite a lot. Pick and choose if it's too much?)
Thanks Rili! Ok, here goes. 7 - It doesn't seem to be an actual tag yet but 'hairplay'. Any story that has character A brushing/tending/stroking character B's hair, I'm in. 19 - 'Mahine's falcon was tethered and hooded on its perch in the chamber, its white plumage turned grey in the weak light, ruffling in alarm at the sounds of metal striking stone as smithereens of opal skittered over the floor.' 25 - They each have their own pros and cons. Writing it all beforehand means I can go back and add something to chapter one even if I only thought of it while writing chapter 10. Writing as you go usually means more feedback on each section which is a boost to motivation. 28 - I play out scenes in my head or out loud (especially dialogue) several times before I start putting any words on paper. It helps because it means you're not staring at a blank page trying to summon words but rather recording what you've already made up. 30 - An AU with Yen as a footballer and Tissaia as the team physio. I started it but couldn't find a way to make it work without it feeling like too many boundaries were being crossed. And it was in the middle of a swathe of AUs and I guess I ran out of steam. 37 - I tend to research while I write. I write until I find something I don't know enough about to sound convincing then go research. If I'm researching something integral to the entire premise then I'll do a bit beforehand but otherwise it goes side-by-side with the writing. I love researching and think everything related to a fic is research - looking up images for inspiration, watching your favourite moment that's inspired the fic. Research isn't just academic or historic, it can be something as tasty as trying to make a chocolate fondant because your character is a chef. 40 - This one is tricky... it's hard not to sound like a motivational placard but *shrugs* 'They walked. Never looking too far ahead, only together.'
