(Breaking hiatus to answer this one because it is very important to me.)

I am going to say, at least for my sigils, no. We offer these sigils requests for free, to help out people as we can, but not to be sold for someone else’s profit. We are fine with people using them for personal use - which is why they’re here - but I am not comfortable allowing someone else to make a profit off of my work, especially when I don’t even make monetary profit off of it. xD So, no, do not use any of the sigils on this blog in anything you plan to sell for your own profit.

(Maybe I should look into copyright stuff, “creative license,” whatever it’s called, because I would hardcore not be okay finding out someone did this…)

Hiya, Mod Finley here. Also breaking hiatus momentarily to say that I, too, am very uncomfortable with people using my sigils as a means to make money, especially when I don’t get any myself. So please, for the love of any deities you may or may not believe in, don’t use any of my, or the blog’s, sigils to make money. Personal use is fine.

Oh yes! I want one just for funsies, but your idea here has inspired me! For those that don’t know, a Buddha Board is a board that you paint on with water, and then the water evaporates/dries/generally disappears after a couple o’ few minutes and you can paint again! It would be excellent for sigils, you’re right!!!

Hi! I hope you don’t mind if I publish this, let us know if you want it taken down! Anyway, Mod Finley has arrived to answer it! I typically use the letters in a sigil only if i’m having a hard time designing one. Most of the time I write the statement at the top of the page to keep it in mind, and then let the ideas flow! and when I do use the letters, i break them up into their components, so for example the letter E would become |, -, -, and -, for the upright piece and three horizontal pieces! 

But for me, it is 99% the intent behind the sigil, because sigils don’t work without intent. Doesn’t matter if it’s a random squiggle or an indepth design, as long as it has intent put into its creation, you’re good.

It’s totally normal. Think of it like this: when you’re running amarathon, you’re using your own energy and get tired, right?  Same with a sigil. If you cast it using your own energy, you’re using your own energy and you’ll get tired! If any other mods or followers want to add anything, please do!

Yep! I don’t know much about pendulums, but charging with crystals is pretty common. You could try using the pendulum to trace your sigil in the air, or chanting your intent while hanging the pendulum over the sigil.

I’m sorry, that sounds terrible :( but if your medication isn’t working properly and your condition is getting worse, you should definitely talk to your doctor about it. ♥

I don’t think that’s really how sigils work, once you charge and cast it then it will work until it wears off. But you could give your intent some qualifiers, like specifically mentioning the type of productivity you want to accomplish? If you’re into casting circles, maybe create a sigil for that space, giving you a productive area to work in? Just keep your intent simple and try not to use negative qualifiers. I’m not sure I know what you mean, so I’m just going to give you my understanding of what sigils are and how they work, hope that helps! 

In my understanding, a sigil is a symbol (being an image that holds meaning for a person or group of people) that is created with a specific intent. “Charging” the sigil is a way of solidifying the symbol with the intent it is meant for in your own consciousness. “Casting” the sigil is a way of communicating the intent to your subconscious through the image/symbol you created by focusing on it in a state of “gnosis,” which means an altered state of consciousness in which your mind is solely focused on one thing, in this case your intent as symbolized by the sigil. (Gnosis can be achieved in many ways, but there are two main categories: inhibitory- meditation/sensory deprivation/self-hypnosis/etc., and excitatory- orgasm/sensory overload/dance/etc.) Casting transfers the intent from your conscious mind to your subconscious mind, where it can work uninhibited by the thought processes that get in the way of accomplishing your goal. How the magic “works” can be described in many different ways, but the way I understand it is that our subconsciousness is all connected, so if you can find a way to communicate with your subconscious mind (i.e. sigils) then you can influence the subconsciousness of yourself as well as others. 

I’m pretty new to chaos magick so if anyone has a different definition or understanding of this concept or can explain it better please do! Hope this helps you go back you your sigil crafting with some more understanding. :)

Yeah! Different colors mean different things to different people, so whatever a certain color symbolizes to you will affect your sigil in that way.

I think there are probably a lot of answers to this question and I can give you some ideas, but since you’re the only one with a complete understanding of the situation I think your best bet is to trust your intuition! If you worship any deities or draw power from the elements you could try incorporating them into your process. If your energy is preoccupied with extra stress you may have a harder time focusing your energy into the sigil, and you could try grounding/meditation/visualization to help you focus on your intent. It may have something to do with the intent itself, is your wording specific and simple? You want to get straight to the point of your intent without using “negative” words like doesn’t or won’t etc. My advice would be to keep trying if you’re still interested and try different things every time to see what works for you! ♥
