Bad News - Bohemian Rhapsody/Three Extra Minutes of Contractually Obligated Footage

Purposely meant to be the “worst” cover of Bohemian Rhapsody ever made, but I absolutely love everything in this (I’m no music purist).

It’s impressive how well Ade can violently scream his way through the song - it takes a lot of control to even do that, and shows he could sing it straight if he ever wanted to. Cameo by Rik’s wife Barbara as a makeup lady who he snogs and she slaps him; her hair’s even curlier than his wig, which rocks.

The extra footage is worth sticking around for, too. I was sitting shocked at Rik reading the whole contract the first time I saw this (he never runs out of breath!), and just about wet myself when they were posing in the yard. If you haven’t seen Bad News, or any other Comic Strip Presents episodes yet, please do it now.

Bea Arthur Vs. Lily Tomlin

Propaganda

Bea Arthur - (Golden Girls, Maude) - Okay okay where do I even start!! Bea Arthur is incredibly attractive. She has a SUPER deep voice (stunning), a sort of regal, statuesque way of moving and talking, and she can kill you with a single piercing look. Like seriously. Her Looks have become a thing in both shows she plays a lead character in. Did I mention: TWO characters were *written for her*!! When she did Maude in 1972, she'd appeared on All in the Family as a side character and the people there loved her so much they went "this woman needs her own TV show". SO THEY WROTE IT. And made 6 seasons of it. That's how good she is. When the pilot for The Golden Girls was written, creator Susan Harris described the part that Bea would end up playing as a "Bea Arthur type" before they'd even cast her in the role. She was Jewish, she served as a typist and truck driver in the marines during WWII, she had a whole career off and on Broadway behind her by the time she started her career in television, and she was an ally to the gay community — there's even a shelter for homeless queer youth named after her. And did I mention her voice?? Because she can sing too!

Lily Tomlin - (Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Saturday Night Live, Murphy Brown) - “Lily Tomlin is, I believe, a great artist. I find that her work succeeds on every level: She is a great actress; she is a brilliant comedienne; she is a coruscating commentator on our times and on her place in the world; she is frighteningly clear in her ability to see and to share what entered her mind and her heart; she is amazingly generous with her material. The final point is one that you will not understand until you begin to create your own work, and you will know the brutal difference between those who give a great deal and those who give according to fashion and whim. Trust me when I tell you this is a brutal point.” — Tennessee Williams

The mustache comb is on display at the Tiffany Wonder Exhibition at Tokyo Node along with many collections of other celebrities.

I was glad to see this not stuffed somewhere in a rando's house, however Harumi informed that the exhibition staff explained some of these collections are Tiffany's while others are loaned by their owners. No info yet whether the comb is the former or latter.

LAST POLL OF ROUND 6

Propaganda

Ingrid Bergman (Gaslight, Casablanca, Notorious)—A lot of the time hotness in a movie is just about words and framing. "You're the most beautiful person here" [vaseline lens] well I sure hope so because that's who you cast. But when, in Casablanca, they call Ingrid Bergman the most beautiful woman in the world... they were not fucking lying. And such a dynamite actor too!! I'd only seen Casablanca up until last year, and there she's confined to love interest. But in Gaslight she was maybe one of the most incredible actors I've ever seen!!!! Goddddd shes so fucking hot and cool.

Lauren Bacall (To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, Key Largo)—"Just put your lips together...and blow" excuse me ma'am i'm briefly going to turn into a kettle. She's the quintessential Femme Fatale who may betray me in the end but I'd let her it'd be worth it

This is round 6 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.

[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]

Time for me to post one of my favorite Ingrid Bergman monologues again.

Uhh content warning for attempted (and failed) gaslight, discussion of madness/insanity, and also spoilers I guess

When I tell you Ingrid Bergman has deserved every accolade she's gotten and more I mean it. This woman can act. Also like, can you deny the sexiness of Ingrid Bergman playing a maligned woman telling her abusive husband to go take a long walk off a short pier? I can't

Anonymous asked:

But picture this: Katherine Hepburn as Mina and Cary Grant as the count in Dracula: The Screwball Comedy version. Also starring William Powell as Van Helsing and Carole Lombard and Kay Francis as Dracula’s maidens. Because who needs to slay Dracula when all you need to do is persuade him of the charms of a good martini?

I like the way you think. Let me just go run this past Louis B. Mayer and I’ll get back to you asap.
