1st of all, ahhh thank you sm, friend
now realistic skintone is its own beast. placing colors and shadows and building up texture is a multistep process and often takes the most time. in order to properly share that with you, i’d probably would have to film a timelapse but i don’t want to promise that bc i’ve promised it in the past and still havent gotten around to doing it. i could possibly take screenshots of the process if i remember, but again, no promises.
but i promise you, i do use the most basic level features on photoshop. dry brush to block out shapes. soft edge brush to blend. curve tool to balance out colors. skin tends to be somewhat reflective, so don’t forget about bounce light where appropriate. don’t forget subsurface scattering where appropriate. don’t only stick to warm tones for skin, some areas can give off a neutral or cool hue, and it’s that contrast that can elevate your work into photorealism.
hope that helps you! feel free to ask for clarification or tips on anything else. and that goes for everyone! i’m v sorry i can’t do full speedpaints, but if you want some minor advice, i can try to whip up small tutorials. 😘
