A blog meant to educate & spread information on our progressions, and knowledge on the issues that plague us; to empower through deconstructing our own, and others ignorance.

“Inspired by Bollywood movie Mughal-e-Azam’s Jab Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya set, Sanjay Leela Bhansali recreated that Aaina Mahal for Bajirao Mastani to also recreate that magic back again. More than 20,000 mirrors were used to make that palace an Aaina Mahal.
There is one angel that reflects in all 20,000 mirrors which makes a jaw-dropping view. After Mughal-e-Azam, this Aaina Mahal holds place of the most expensive set in history till date. There is one shot in Deewani Mastani where Deepika Padukone is highlighted into all those mirrors.”

Book Club

Is anyone interested in starting/joining an online book and movie club? We could focus on South Asian themes but also occasionally other writers of colour and movies starring or produced/directed/written by people of colour. I’m thinking we could start a group chat on whatsapp or messenger and set a time when we all come online and discuss what we’ve read or watched. Message me!

Hey just reblogging this one more time for anyone who missed it. Those who were in contact I'll msg you tomorrow!

It’s really unbelievable to me when white women act like a “victory” over a man of color (ex. getting cast in a role originally for a man of color) is equivalent to a victory over a white man

Historically white women have been just as complicit as their male counterparts in the oppression of people of color no matter the gender (see white women getting the right to vote in 1920 but throwing black men under the bus in the process)

So next time yall white women want to act like you’ve won something by claiming a “victory” over a man of color maybe you should consider yalls long history of participating in racism against them and learn a little something about intersectionality

This is Abinta, Tarishi and Faraaz. They were slaughtered last night during the Dhaka attacks. Please remember their names

Remember that Tarishi went to UC Berkeley and started an amazing clothing line called EthiCAL Apparel, which aimed to eradicate poverty.

Remember that Abinta and Faraaz went to Emory and were extremely hardworking students and radiated nothing but positivity everywhere they went.

Faraaz is a hero that was murdered for trying to protect his friends. The terrorist group leaked photos of them, dead, lying in pools of blood - holding on to each other. Please don’t let these gruesome images be what they are remembered for. Don’t let this awful event define them, remember them for the mark they made on this world.

These three were senselessly murdered in their home country and I will not rest until they are memorialised. Please stop turning this into a political debate, please stop trying to bash our amazing country. Just remember that these are real people, they had real lives and friends and ambitions. Remember them.
