Send me ‘ f a i n t e d ‘ for my muse to find yours passed out in the middle of nowhere
@puppetoffthehook from HERE
Hank nods. "Yup. It's your birthday after all, ao I figured we'd do something special." He was in the middle of making french toast, the good kind, a special breakfast that he didn't make often because it took a bit more time and care.
He motions to the pile on the table "You can open your gifts whenever you want. No need to wait until after breakfast or cake tonight."
He doesn’t know what to say or how to react. The last real birthday he’d had was years ago. Hank wasn’t even his real dad but here he was making french toast and getting Billy a pile of presents to open. Tears pricked at his eyes and the teen tried to cover it up with a yawn, rubbing stubbornly to keep the tears from falling.
“Th-thank you, sir.” His voice is quiet but reverent as he sits before the gifts. It’s more than he’s ever gotten before and the cute mermaid paper is something his own father never would’ve let his mom use.
Seeing his reaction made it worth it. Hank smiled and gave a faint nod. "You're welcome, son." he meant it as a sort of nickname, a term of endearment to someone younger that he used before on the kids that've come to his home but he also knew what kind of weight it could easily carry to those very same kids. Would Billy notice or care about it? Did any one realize how much this house could be a home?
"Breakfast will be done soon, but why don't you open something while we wait?" Hank momentarily left the stove unattended and reached over the pile to hand Billy a smaller wrapped gift. "Go ahead, have at it"
"I found a snake!"
She's just holding a little garden snake, letting it slither around her fingers.
"Weeds like these can steal nutrients away from the plants we want to keep so we pull them to help keep the flowers healthy." He explained as he yanked a thick one from the dirt.
When it comes time for his kid to start dating Hank talks to his kid. No matter how old they are and no matter who they are dating when they go out on a date, the first date with that person at least, Hank will sit his kid down beforehand and talk. No matter if its their first time dating in general or just the first time with a new person. Even on repeat dates he'll give them reminder.
He talks about how he trusts them and their judgment. Tells them to remember to follow their gut and instincts. To be safe and smart, it’s okay to say no, ect. He also tells them they can always call/text him about anything at any time and he will be there for them via someone to talk to OR literally going to where they are and picking them up. Whatever. He’s there.
Hank is one of those parents that peeks into the kid’s room throughout the night to check in on them while they sleep. Even as they get older. No matter how old they are.
ready for summer ☀️
But what even is an octagon-
@lieutenantgivesnoshits Every time I hear this song I think of Mayson and your Hank.
Imagine: Young Cole is sick. When his dad asks him if there’s anything he can get him the boy says “A dog.” Hank tells him no…but then Hank’s friend is re-homing their dog and this slobbery St Bernard pup just takes to Hank and won’t let him be?? The dog worms his way into Hank’s heart and combined with Cole having asked for a dog??…fuck it the Andersons have a dog now and his name is Sumo.

"I found a snake!"
She's just holding a little garden snake, letting it slither around her fingers.
"That would be so much fun, we can find all sorts of creatures together!" She smiled back at him, watching him pull some of the weeds as she sat on the grass.
"Oh that would be cool! I will do my best to be a good swim student so we can go to your swim spot!"
"Fireflies, Butterflies, all kinds of birds, deer. We have a lot to be on the lookout for." He had once needed to memorize the appearance and facts of various local birds and wildlife during a middle school science class. He vaguely wondered if he still had any of that knowledge or if his brain had dumped the 'useless bird facts' folder years ago. Him and Ilia could learn together. He'll have to get them a good notebook to use as a field journal.
"Once you're swimmer, we'll make a special family day of it too, it's been ages since any of us have been out to the pond"
Speaking of learning... Why wait until the summer to do things together. He notices Ilia watching him. "Wanna help me weed the garden? I can teach you how to care for the flower beds we have here." Just like how Hank taught him.
