Commissions open!

Hello, dear followers! As some of you might know, I’m going to have some extra expenses in a few months. Hopefully, they’ll help me to land a better paying job in a new field. As I’m pretty broke right now... commissions.

I’ve been writing for a while, and I’m pretty good, if I say so myself! You can find my fic on ao3 and a short story of mine that was published on this anthology. I can roll with most genres and ratings, though if you read my fics, you know that I usually go for the adult stuff and don’t shy away from smut.

You can find my commission information like fandoms and prices on my carrd and tip me on my ko-fi if you like my writing! Contact me here on tumblr or on lydiamartintrash@gmail.com. See ya!

Theoretically if I were to host an event in which the Scum Villain Fandom tried to write PIDW would people be interested?

I discussed this with my good friend @spaced-out-scribbles a while back but here few details that I have in my head, please stop me if someone has already done something like this before

  • As we all know PIDW, written by Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky, was the source material that Shen Yuan transmigrates into
  • So wouldn't it be funny to have a "canon" source material for people to reference?
  • Step 1 would be to compile every reference to PIDW in SVSSS to figure out how long Binghe's white lotus arc lasted and how long actual plot occured before it devolved into shitty smut
  • Step 2 would be to compile a list of fic writers and maybe artists perhaps that would be interested in recreating PIDW based off of the information occuring in Step 1
  • A discord server is put together with everyone interested in this project
  • There could maybe be a list of people assigned to each referenced arc that would maybe hold applications the way that a zine would perhaps? With people applying to write specific portions of PIDW if they wanted to write the marriage of a specific wife or a portion of a specific arc
  • And anyone else that wanted to participate is assigned a random wife number and told to go wild with the longest, shittiest description of how Luo Bingge was a total stallion lead, and married his new wife of the week
  • All of these fics and/or accompanying art are submitted to a GIANT ao3 collection (bonus points if everyone involved creates a pseud that's named as Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky for this project) and with everyone's contributions all put together you get a semblance of what PIDW would have looked like
  • Bonus points if no one else has any idea what happened in a previous wife plot, so the story is not at all coherent towards the later chapters, because I fully believe Airplane had no idea what the fuck he's written before as he got to the end of PIDW
  • Someone is assigned to write the final shitty ending that made Shen Yuan so mad he died and transmigrated
  • If anyone wants to contribute to PIDW after the project, the collection could remain open but moderated to make sure chapter numbers/wife numbers stay consistent and that's about it

Obviously this would be a huge project to wrangle and would need a lot of people involved to actually make it work and take a lot of time, so if this is something people are actually interested in, it would more than likely not be able to come to fruition until the start of 2025 at the absolute earliest with all the prep work it would take to get a project like this accomplished but I thought I'd throw it out there to see if people would be interested, so reblog to spread the word if this is something you'd like to see!

Once again, if someone has already done something like this please let me know, I've only been in this fandom for like a year and a half so I'm aware that a lot of fandom events have occured before my time in the fandom

It’s complicated. They didn’t LET me. I had access to a library and the ability to deceive from a young age lmao

I was nine years old and my dad handed me a copy of Dune and was like here this is awesome.

did you read it at nine?

It wasn't exactly easy but I plowed through as best I could. It was the paperback edition released in conjunction with the David Lynch film and iirc there was a glossary for some of the in universe stuff, and most of the stuff with the navigators and the political manipulating of the Harkonen and Atredies families flew over my head but the whole thing with Paul and the fremen and such more or less stuck.

I read it again in my teens but I only made it about halfway into Dune Messiah because I kept forgetting which character was which.

It's weird because those are way old memories at this point and I only know for sure because my later teachers thought that wasn't a believable thing to say, and any time I see any Dune media I get like flashbacks of reading where I understand something I definitely did not when I was a third-grader.

I took my mom's copy of Clan of the Cave Bear and read it when we were still living in Maryland, so I must have been 11 or younger.

And there was like... Shakespeare and stuff sitting around the house. My parents, whatever else they believed, didn't believe in restricting our reading.

I was about 8 or 9 when Kerri (mother) told me I could read whatever I want, but if it upset me or made me uncomfortable I could/should stop and could talk to her about it. Sometimes I talked to her and picked the book back up. Sometimes I was alarmed and just quietly turned the book back into the library, lamenting my mistake.

So that was nice.

That's a great plan, and basically what I did with my kid as far as books were concerned. We did restrict her movie intake -- with middling success, because @mistresskabooms did find a way to watch Episode III after we told her she couldn't because it would be too upsetting to her at six :| -- but books? We did what our parents did, and just said, you know, make good choices, and come talk to us if something hurts or upsets you.

And she did.

I devoured books, if my parents had thought a book was too old for me they probably wouldn't have noticed until i'd finished itso it was left around long enough for them to see what i was reading

I worked my way through the local library like a plague of locusts

I remember reading the spider world series by Colin Wilson [where people are people sized but insects are huge and have civilisations [in insect ways] with things like beetle bombadiers using people as slaves or others keeping them for food - which was described viscerally]

I'm not sure I'd encourage a ten year old to read them - but ten year old me thought they were awesome

and piers anthony, i read the incarnations series in primary school so I do think I probably should have had some limits, but my parents were of the opinion if it was too much I'd stop reading - which didn't happen until college with Sister Carrier by Theodore Dreiser which was the first book i started and didn't finish

Clive Barker featured too, but only weaveworld and cabal

Thanks to @cafeleningrad for tagging me! I haven't done one of those (or been much on tumblr at all) in a while, but I always like them!

3 ships you like: I'm currently very into Moshang (The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System), a little bit less so into Nieyao (MDZS), and I'm always a Throbb bitch.

First ship ever: I've always loved shipping even before I knew what it was, but the first I remember having intense feelings of 'oh, i want to smash them together forever' was with Sakura and Syaoran from Sakura Card Captor.

Last song you heard: This The Wind Blows cover.

Favourite childhood book: I don't think I had a favorite one, I hardly reread things, but I remember that The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley made an impression on me. Not a kid book, but I read it while I was a kid.

Currently reading: Putting myself through Incidente em Antares (An Incident at Antares, in a poor translation by me), by Érico Veríssimo. I'm about halfway done (read 130 pages or so) and I'm annoyed at how much I don't like it so far while it should be perfectly to my tastes on paper. This has been a trend lately. I don't like that author in general, but it was the closest fiction novel at hand and I wanted a physical book.

Currently watching: Nothing in particular. I want to watch The Terror just from how much I've seen it on my dash. And HotD again before season 2 starts.

Currently consuming: As in, food? Digital "content?. Neither, at the moment.

Currently craving: Energy :'(

I'm tagging @omgellendean, @salty-wench, @evax3, @st-clements-steps and whoever else wants to!

Also, I've been sick as a dog this week and so everything annoys me, but nothing has made me angrier than people misinterpreting "Bichos Escrotos" to be about politicians on youtube comments. Like, What??? The lyrics are not that hard to understand? The "disgusting" animals are talked about in a positive light? Also, comparing politicians you don't like to vermin is not the gotcha people seem to think it is :)))

I went so far as to look up what the lyrics was about according to the writers, something I usually can't give a shit about because I can read, and I was correct (it was about criticizing beauty standards)

Anyway, listen to it, it's great.

Murder, tax fraud

I've done a fanfic poll a while ago, and I'm proud to say I've written words about it ever since! Less than 1k, but still, I'm pretty happy with myself, considering the ickness I've been feeling about my writing :D Here's what I got so far:

Help me decide what lost wip i should work on

My computer died on me recently, and my dumb ass had no backups for any of my fun-writing. I've lost about 3 years worth of work and though I want to start over, I can't decide what I should focus on first. So in honor of this stupidity + indecisiveness combo, vote on this!

The people has spoken! Su She x Lan Wangji, Endgame Suyao it is!

There should be a fanfic writing game called the showrunners challenge where someone writes a story and partway through someone else can play things like "actor leaves after 4000 more words" or "topic now too politically sensitive due to unforeseen world events" or "lost rights to that reference"
