Because my last post about this didn't get much traction, I'll say it in a text post.

There is an upcoming global strike for Palestine. February 18th to the 25th. Talk about Palestine and other injustices, call your representatives and email them, boycott companies and limit spending during the week. Get your grocery shopping in now and only buy essentials during the week, please. Limit interaction on posts other than injustices around the world. If you can, skip work or school, though this is a privilege not everyone has.

Edit: It is 18th-25th not 18th-24th!! If you've already reblogged this, please reblog this version instead, edits don't show on past reblogs

This is a friendly reminder that none disabled people often do benefit from the same accommodations disabled people benefit from.

[ID: a comic titled "The Curb-Cut Effect" featuring a simple city scene. A curb cut (the indented portion of a curb which acts as a ramp from street level to pavement level) is in the center of the image and colored red. Various different figures using wheeled objects surround the curb cut, each object colored in an orangey-yellow. In the far back, someone holds a skateboard, a seated person holds a cane, and another seated person holds a rolling suitcase. In the midground, a couple pushes a stroller and two people ride bicycles. In the foreground, a person pushes a dolly. In the very center of the image at the bottom of the curb cut is a person using a wheelchair. Text at the bottom has an arrow pointing to the curb and reads, "When we design for disabilities... we make things better for everyone." The artist's handle "sketchplanations" is at the bottom right. End ID]

Glad there was an image description in the notes (thank you, by the way!) because IDs themselves are the first thing I think of when I hear about the curb-cut effect. By ensuring screen reader compatibility for blind and low-vision people, we also help out anyone whose internet won't load images, for just one example!

February started with false hopes of a ceasefire.

It is now February 15 and the largest medical facility in South Gaza, which sheltered ~2,500 people and had been under siege for two weeks, has been attacked. It is now completely out of function.

We are 21 days away from marking 5 months of ongoing genocide.

Here are several posts with numerous donation links & other ways to help. I’ll also include the tag I use for those posts, where you’ll find individual gofundme’s listed as well. There is also Operation Olive Branch, which has an excel sheet of numerous families in Gaza & how to donate to them + how to contact them. If you can afford it, please consider donating and please, please remember to scroll down to donate to families at the bottom of the list. If you cannot give, please simply share as many resources as you find.

Go. By the way of a road that leads you to your own home, to a place where you know, deep in your heart, you belong.

disney animation execs going on-record last year saying that they couldn't do 2d animated movies anymore because of the supposed "limitations" of the medium and then immediately losing to a 2d animated movie on awards season is too perfect

I just think this is funny

The real reason was they didn't have any 2D animation folks on payroll anymore. They literally got rid of those folks since the release of Princess & the Frog. However they can't just say that so they need to make up some BS about 2D being worse actually.

Love that the headline is "THEY RECEIVED OVER 100 CONPLAINTS," but leave out that that 144 is out of 7.6 million viewers.

I didn't know 0.00189% of an audience complaining was worthy of an entire article.

Kinda perfect microcosm of the entire "trans debate." There's an extremely loud very small minority of people that hate trans people while the vast majority are either ambivalent or supportive, but the headlines and media coverage go to the very small minority of transphobes.
