Me: Les Rois Maudits 2005 has its flaws, but the costumes were so historically accurate and pretty Les Rois Maudits 2005: Here’s a witch doing witchcraft in a cocktail dress and rubber gloves, you’re welcome.
rereading acok and melisandre really is that character who i never expected to like as much. not because i ever thought she was “evil” but because i liked her, she was not nearly as bad as the real evil people of the series, and hey she was right about the impending apocalypse, but in the early part of the series we don’t really see her depth. at least we don’t see it for what it is.
when we get to adwd we not only see where she’s coming from, get her perspective and not the perspective of people who distrust her and what she does, when we see the horrific trauma that’s shaped who she is...it’s illuminating to everything before that we’ve seen of her. melisandre is that one asoiaf quote about some wounds no matter how old they are bleeding at the slightest touch, she’s “if i look back i am lost,” she’s “you have to remember your name,” her journey is similar to so many others’ in the series of suffering and salvation and the great and terrible power of faith and the unfathomable evil of society. melisandre, inside, is still melony, and going into my reread, now aware of that the way i wasn’t when i read this years ago, is really going to re-cast what i read
I kind of never post about myself because I’m very shy, but tonight I’m just— trying hard to focus on good things so I wanted to show my little darling.
Name’s Nano (nickname Brioche), a Ragdoll baby (seal bicolour). He’ll come home in 18 days and I already love him dearly.

You know you can talk all the shit you want about Madoka Magica, but you have to admit that the Meduka Meguca memes gave us so many valuable phrases and ways to express important emotions and concepts.
Empathy is sometimes rage filtered By the desire to join with the lovable enemy

anyway as you might guess i started acok i love team dragonstone and my modern au Thought is that shireen ofc still exists bc stannis and selyse had a brief (like 1 year) marriage at a time when neither of them were really in a good place, they amicably divorced and share custody, selyse remarried to mel and stannis has conflicting feelings about his married bff davos, no one gets burned to death
patchface: appears

"A man your age must look to where he steps," Melisandre said courteously. "The night is dark and full of terrors."
He knew the phrase, some prayer of her faith. It makes no matter, I have a faith of my own. "Only children fear the dark," he told her.
this is really sad because mel actually is afraid of the dark because of the things she experienced as an enslaved child....
i just read the bloody chamber (the whole book)
-the title story&lady of the house of love were both pretty good, otherwise i...wasnt that into it
-the red girl by catherynne valente is DEFINITELY an “@ the bloody chamber” isnt it...
-literally everything i see about bluebeard convinces me grrm had every bluebeard version/retelling in mind when writing mr. ramsay bolton, like, the QUOTES in that title story...the one about the puppetmaster who loses control bc his wife has autonomy and stuff...hm
