Didn’t the Republicans in the Senate say that they weren’t going to make the trial fair at all and that they would be extremely biased in favor of Trump and that there wouldn’t be any witnesses?

I think they said they're going to vote the impeachment down, which is the Senate's right. Are we going to act like the vote in the house wasn't extremely biased and partisan?

What everyone thinks shes doing is holding the trials off so he can't run in 2020 since he will have an ongoing impeachment investigation which at that point trump should probably just take the L and the Republican party should find another candidate especially since he has been charged with impeachment already.

Once the children were asleep, Sajjad headed out on an urgent shopping mission. “We are Muslims and we’d never had a Christmas tree in our home. But these children were Christian and we wanted them to feel connected to their culture.”

The couple worked until the early hours putting the tree up and wrapping presents. The first thing the children saw the next morning was the tree.

“I had never seen that kind of extra happiness and excitement on a child’s face.“ The children were meant to stay for two weeks – seven years later two of the three siblings are still living with them.

this is a beautiful article and i just want to include a few other highlights from the above family as well as another profiled:

…she focuses on the positives – in particular how fostering has given her and Sajjad an insight into a world that had been so unfamiliar. “We have learned so much about English culture and religion,” Sajjad says. Riffat would read Bible stories to the children at night and took the girls to church on Sundays. “When I read about Christianity, I don’t think there is much difference,” she says. “It all comes from God.”
The girls, 15 and 12, have also introduced Riffat and Sajjad to the world of after-school ballet, theatre classes and going to pop concerts. “I wouldn’t see many Asian parents at those places,” she says. “But I now tell my extended family you should involve your children in these activities because it is good for their confidence.” Having the girls in her life has also made Riffat reflect on her own childhood. “I had never spent even an hour outside my home without my siblings or parents until my wedding day,” she says.
Just as Riffat and Sajjad have learned about Christianity, the girls have come to look forward to Eid and the traditions of henna. “I’ve taught them how to make potato curry, pakoras and samosas,” Riffat says. “But their spice levels are not quite the same as ours yet.” The girls can also sing Bollywood songs and speak Urdu.
“I now look forward to going home. I have two girls and my wife waiting,” says Sajjad. “It’s been such a blessing for me,” adds Riffat. “It fulfilled the maternal gap.”

Shareen’s longest foster placement arrived three years ago: a boy from Syria. “He was 14 and had hidden inside a lorry all the way from Syria,” she says. The boy was deeply traumatised. They had to communicate via Google Translate; Shareen later learned Arabic and he picked up English within six months. She read up on Syria and the political situation there to get an insight into the conditions he had left.
“It took ages to gain his trust,” she says. “I got a picture dictionary that showed English and Arabic words and I remember one time when I pronounced an Arabic word wrong and he burst out laughing and told me I was saying it wrong – that was the breakthrough.”
The boy would run home from school and whenever they went shopping in town, he kept asking Shareen when they were going back home. She found out why: “He told me that one day he left his house in Syria and when he had come back, there was no house.” Now he’s 18, speaks English fluently and is applying for apprenticeships. He could move out of Shareen’s home, but has decided to stay. “He is a very different person to the boy who first came here,” she says, “and my relationship with him is that of a mother to her son.”

hey just a heads up/warning for those of you who don’t do well dealing with the heavy subjects or videos portraying violent acts, sandyhook promise has a new gun violence school shooting PSA that is probably going to be going viral and is slated to play on television and in AMC movie theaters and it’s pretty heavy, especially at the end. I know it’s a topic that needs to be discussed but it’s not a video that everyone will be able to watch, so just a warning for those of you that might not be able to handle it.

For when you’re stuck watching like in a theater- When it begins to play, you will see kids talking about their binder or their other school supplies. When you see the boy with the skateboard, stop watching and plug your ears.

I think you should stop watching when you see this person saying “these colorful binders help me stay organized” because pretty much right after that there’s some panic inducing stuff. The entire ad is 67 seconds long.

It’s legit terrifying to watch. It hits you out of nowhere and I know that this is important for people to understand but I have anxiety and this just makes my fear of school shooters worse

It’s called “Back-To-School Essentials” on Youtube. Dark themes to watch out for plus timestamps:

  • Lock Down Drill (background) - 0:06
  • Panic - 0:12
  • Screaming - 0:17
  • Gunshots - 0:31
  • Blood - 0:33
  • 0:39 - 0:55 - a girl texts her mom “i love you” in a bathroom stall as she’s stalked by an intruder

Boosting this because I saw it came up on insta and without knowing what it was i played it and ended up having a break down over its ending. It’s an extremely important topic but also…. extremely hard to watch……..

It’s going around Tumblr now too, just so you’re all prepared

I watched it when it first started going around and it made me incredibly anxious. Heads up to anybody who needs a heads up.

The first time I watched it I legit felt a panic attack start. If I wasnt on the call with someone to help me before it got into a full blown thing, it would of been much worse for me- please dont watch this unless you can stomach it

DO NOT SCROLL!!

Please reblog this, it is very serious!

Didn’t someone die cause they used cheap insulin?

Didnt someone die because they couldnt afford insulin?

It’s fucked either way. A man died saving up money for his wedding and using cheap insulin instead.

Like it’s great info, but maybe that bit of information is still important. That this isn’t a 100% fix, and it could kill.

Not being an asshole just saying both sides is awful, but I'd rather take cheap medication over no medication.

The American healthcare system is just so fucked. Imagine wanting your citizens to die because you couldn't afford to cut your salary a little bit.

#5yrsago App shows you the way to the illegally hidden public beaches of Malibu

Back in May, Mark wrote about a Kickstarter project to fund a mobile app that will help you locate the hidden entrances to Malibu’s public beaches, which the local rich and famous people have done everything they can to obscure (including putting up illegal fake signs that falsely declare passage to be trespassing).

The Kickstarter was fully funded and the app is out, and the public is finding its way to Malibu’s public beaches, which is great news – unless you’re one of those people who’s spent decades treating a public beach as your own private patch. Local residents are pissed:

why would anyone ever feel the need to 'come out' as demisexual for any reason AND pretend like it's as important as someone coming out as gay or trans etc

this is a nasty post. coming out is an incredibly important thing to many demi folks and they have every reason to come out. treasure your local demisexual!
