About me

• She/her, 23 yo

• English Major

• Introverted perfectionist

• Lover of art, literature and aesthetics, morally grey fictional characters, novels with lots of gloom and doom

Writerly Habits

• I write in the same font as most legal documents—Times New Roman (bland, I know)

• Single-spaced forever—I like big chunks of text

• Fountain pen enthusiast

• Could spend the rest of my life at the desk

Wips (some of which fill me with dread to continue)

• Yellow Houses /// adult lit-fic novel. Unhinged university students vandalize houses, painting them school-bus yellow, then write about wondering who did it in the local paper. Hmm...

• Liquor and Locusts /// adult modern fantasy novel. TW because this is a pandemic story! A squatter crashes at a countryside manor during a pandemic, befriending an elderly gardener and his very emo apprentice. There is somehow also a talking locust who loves brandy.

• Red Pleather /// lit short fiction. A teenage girl’s relationship with her older brother who constricts her from the world outside their crowded apartment complex. Warning: a lot of stair climbing and internal monologues in this one.

CURRENT PROJECT: APPLE MEAD

lit fic? Thriller? // Heavyyy dark academia aesthetics // Set in Istanbul, Turkey.

You would like this if you enjoy reading about gloomy uni student years, morally grey journalists, the odd murder, gay panic, and secret clubs where you sign a contract and sell your soul basically.

Note: Wanted to say that this is an updated blog introduction— I’ve been away for some time,,,, but anyways! I’m back here now to share my current wips, writerly frustrations, and general artsy aesthetics.

That said, other writeblrs! Please interact so I can read all of your beautiful wips~

Also, I attached a random illustration I made for the Apple Mead MCs, hope you enjoy!

There needs to be more domesticated dragons in stories. Little dragon pups sleeping in the fireplace, scratching at the door when their human locks them outside the room, hiding socks and stealing food off the table, curling up in their human's lap, chasing birds, waiting for the mailman (except sometimes it's a courier dragon), falling asleep in their food bowl, whining if they hate baths. The tiny baby ones chirp like birds. Pocket dragons.

These journals are gorgeous! Mine arrived a while ago but I never got the chance to post a photo.

Buy it! I can assure you they are every bit as gorgeously and vibrantly printed as the photos show, and they’re even better in person because the faux leather cover feels so soft!

Seriously if you think these are nice even just in the photos then go buy one from this awesome artist, they’re high quality and totally worth the price.

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.

Might I add:

The defeat of the wizard who made people choose how they’d be to be executed

The woman who raised the changeling alongside her biological child

The human who died of radiation poisoning after repairing the spaceship

The adventures of a space roomba

Cinderella finding Araura (and falling in love)

I don’t know a snappy description but the my nemesis cynthia story certainly lives in my head

Poem: I lik the form

My naym is pome / and lo my form is fix’d Tho peepel say / that structure is a jail I am my best / when formats are not mix’d Wen poits play / subversions often fail

Stik out their toung / to rebel with no cause At ruls and norms / In ignorance they call: My words are free / Defying lit'rate laws To lik the forms / brings ruin on us all

A sonnet I / the noblest lit'rate verse And ruls me bind / to paths that Shakespeare paved Iambic fot / allusions well dispersed On my behind / I stately sit and wave

You think me tame /   Fenced-in and penned / bespelled I bide my time /   I twist the end / like hell

* “lik” should be read as “lick”, not “like”. In general, the initial section on each line should be read sort of phonetically.

Written for World Poetry Day, March 21, 2018. When I had this idea earlier today, I thought it was the worst, most faux hip pretentious idea for a shallow demonstration of empty wordsmithing skill in poetry ever. So I had to try to write it. I mean, how often do you get to fuse the iambic dimeter of bredlik - one of the newest and most exciting verse forms - with the stately iambic pentameter of the classic sonnet?

Holy shit this slaps. Hell no, this isn’t pretentious, this is awesome. I love what language can do, and this is showing it off in a cape with glitter and makeup.

I have something I want to check, but the answer may scare me. Alright, here it goes:

Please reblog, though I'm pretty sure it's gonna be pretty conclusive regardless of sample size.

Plot tables: Mapping out and organizing all your plots and storylines

Can't organize your plot and are juggling between several plot lines? I got your back, I present: Plot tables!

(I'm probably not the only person to use these, but I have no idea if these are commonly used and I just don't know about it or I actually did something with this)

Here's a loose example I threw together. It's just a normal table where each column represents a different storyline within the same story. It shows you roughly what should happen in each chapter / scene.

e.g., from the example table, we see that in chapter / scene 1, there's a chase scene where the police lose track of the criminal they're following, as well as in the same chapter we see character B and C break up.

It's nothing groundbreaking, but it's something I want to share considering the amount of people I see complaining about juggling 50 million storylines and having no orderly way to keep track of it
