Something noisy is happening in Maria's garden (as always). 'Something' is an excited Aghul bouncing around the clotheslines between almost dry bedsheets.

@au-rawr

Maria had grown accustomed to all types of noises emerging from her garden. Birds chirping within the branches of nearby trees, bees buzzing around her rose bushes, wind chimes tinkling in the breeze near her porch. All normal occurring noises that were welcome this type of year. Those were not the only noises she was accustomed to, of course. She also knew the tell-tale noise of visiting guests.

More specifically, guests who were renowned for causing mischief in her garden when she wasn’t paying attention.

So it was not surprising for her to find the source upon walking outside once more, with an empty basket in tow, and knowing exactly who it was bouncing between the damp bed sheets on the clothesline just from noise alone.

Maria could have alerted Aghul to her presence. Called his name, pulled back the sheets to reveal herself upon standing in front of the clothesline. But that was way too easy. No, this kind of entrance deserved an equal level of mischief. One she was more than happy to deliver.

So she crouched quietly behind one of the billowing sheets, a playful smirk on her lips, ready to jump out in surprise the second Aghul bounced by her.

Maria couldn’t stop the smile tugging at the corners of her lips upon hearing Aghul chitter and laugh, and it took her will not to laugh aloud when she spotted him darting about the billowing sheets. Yet she had to keep the element of surprise if this little plan was going to work.
It wasn’t long before the au-ra darted by, and before Maria had a chance to pull the sheet back fully and reveal herself, Aghul pounced at the sheet instead, sending the pair tumbling into the grass with an excited squeal from him and a surprised shriek from her.
The collision itself wasn’t painful; her crouched position and the soft grass broke most of the fall. And it didn’t take long for Aghul to recognize her either when he immediately began nuzzling her face and greeting her by name.
“It’s good to see you too, Aghul!” she laughed in response, her hand reaching to tousle his hair once the pair came to a stop. “If I had know you’d stop by for a visit, I would’ve hung up more sheets for you to play in. It has been far too long, hasn’t it??”

With his tail wagging in excitement, making his entire body wiggle, Aghul leans into Maria’s hand and purrs. He missed his two-legger friend! But all is good and he still found his way to her territory and she still remembers him. And she even built him a fun playground! “A-rhuu wah, a-rhuu pah! Pah, pah!”, He chitters, trying to explain his excitement about the whole thing. “Ma-rii pah!”

Happily Aghul leans down to lick Maria’s nose, then flops sideways and rolls down off her to lie in the grass next to her in perfect cat-manner, his front paws eagerly kneading at the ground. He looks even more tousled than usually after zooming through the bedsheets and tumbling about. Miraculously though, the leaves in his hair have stayed in place.

Aghul squeals and chitters and makes odd gurgling sounds that almost sound like he is trying to imitate laughter as he zooms back and forth between the rows of colorful sheets, sometimes jumping through them when the wind pushes them this way or that. He is so busy playing that he doesn’t notice Maria approach, especially not when the wind blows in her direction.

He picks up speed and jumps into the sheet that she’s hiding behind. It’s only mid-jump that the bedsheet finally moves enough to reveal her. Aghul’s squeal turns into a startled hiss, then an even louder squeal when he recognizes *who* he’s going to crash into.

The next moment he finds himself and Maria tumbling through the grass, already nuzzling her face before they even roll to a stop. “Ma-rii!”

Aghul yelps as Maria starts making her way over to him and quickly bolts to hide behind the rather destroyed, half-eaten pie while she stops to glare at him in disapproval. He doesn’t know what she’s so angry about exactly, but apparently she doesn’t like the idea of him eating her food - even though he traded it!
“Ma-rii fiss! A-rhuu nam…”, he tries to explain, tilting his head in an attempt to appear more innocent and maybe better get his point across. When that doesn’t help, he temptatively slinks a little closer and tries to affectionately snuggle Maria’s legs.
No, Maria was not going to be drawn in by Aghul’s innocent act. Of watching him tilt his head and look at her with big eyes while he explained himself. No she was not going to be drawn in by him slinking toward her, then proceeding to snuggle her legs like a housecat. No, she wasn’t going to be drawn in, no matter how adorable he looked.
But he was trying to apologize in his own way.
“Switching my pie with a half-eaten fish is not the way to ask for food, Aghul,” Maria said. “I can’t replace desert with your catch.” Another sigh escapes her as she looks down at him, watching him move around her legs affectionately. She was upset, but she couldn’t stay upset could she?
It was from this thought that an idea came to mind.
“I’m still upset, Aghul,” she begins. “But I may have a way you can make it up to me. What do you say about coming to the nearby market with me? I have to gather more ingredients to make another pie, and since you’re here I can have some help with that. And maybe, just maybe, I can get you a better fish if you do a good job. Does that sound good?”

A little purr here and there, just for good measure and Aghul keeps nudging and snuggling Maria. He looks up at her again, trying to evaluate how upset she still is.

Quite, it seems. And he pouts. “Fiss nam!”, comes the equally upset justification. His fish is big and tasty! He sits back on his hind legs and gets as upright as he can, then paws at Maria. “Fiss fiss!”

Maria stands at the porch, hands on her hips and disapproval on her face upon spotting the au ra. Of course, she catches Aghul right in the act of devouring the pie. The same pie she had spent the last hour making, and was now nothing but crumbs all over his face. She waits, a part of her expecting some form of explanation. Well, as much of an explanation she could expect from the au ra. Yet the only response given was a blink of his eyes and a wag of his tail. The sight of her didn’t appear to deter him away from the pie–or rather, the remnants of it now.
She sighs, both in exasperation and resignation of the pie’s fate, before walking toward. She stops short in front of Aghul, glancing down before shaking her head.
“You know that pie wasn’t yours, right?” Maria began, her tone chastising. “I would’ve given you a slice if you had asked, or even grabbed my attention like usual. But taking it without my notice, then eating it all, was not the way to do it. That was supposed to be for later today. Now what am I supposed to serve for a dessert, hm?”

Something very distinctively Aghul-shaped tosses a fresh fish against Maria's kitchen window, from where it flops down onto the window sill. A very skillful toss indeed. In exchange, Aghul takes the pie that's been sitting on said window sill to cool.

The wet thud of something hitting the sill startled Maria out of cleaning up. Her gaze moved away from drying the small collection of dishes to the window close by. A fresh fish now sat on the sill, wet and lifeless, staring up at her with blank eyes…wait a second. A fish was not what she placed on the sill to cool a moment prior. What was in this spot was a pie fresh out of the oven. So where was the pie.

Her answer came in the form of a crouched blur darting across her periphery, moving quick through the yard and into the rosebushes. A familiar crouched blur, actually. One who also had a penchant for catching fish and bringing them to her as welcome gifts. Usually, when said gifts were used as distractions for greater mischief.

“Aghul!” The name left her lips as realization clicked, and Maria rushed out of the kitchen and into the yard, the fish forgotten. “Aghul, I know that’s you! Get back here! And bring that pie back!”

“-rhu!” Aghul freezes at the sound of his name and slooowly turns around, a small bite of pie crumbling off his tongue. He spots Maria at the porch, obviously upset. Doesn’t she like that particular fish? Granted, there’s half of the tail fin missing, but it’s still perfectly edible!

He blinks innocently and gives a temptative wag of his tail but remains crouched over the pie nontheless.

A small au-rawr pounces onto Tiergan's tail and starts chasing the tip around.

With a flick and swish of that dense plume of white, the boy was scrambling off round and round, running and leaping in circles much like an actual coeurl kitten.  Tiergan had seen this tiny youth several times now, either scampering over proudly with stolen goods from the Markets as a gift or crashing into the gladiator’s ankles in delightful greeting. It was a strange thing to be hold - a Spoken child raised by beasts.  Sometimes Tiergan felt the urge to try and teach the boy some words, enough language that the youngling grow to truly understand the world around him.  But for now, he let the little one play - his long white tail sweeping forward and back, the tip of it just out of reach of tiny grasping auri hands.

A gleeful chirp and Aghul zooms after the flicking tail, tripping and falling and rolling and bouncing back to his feet whenever it changes direction suddenly. Like a kitten he chatters at his ‘toy’ as if it’s a bird that’s always just slightly out of reach. He sneezes when the tail brushes his nose once, only to tumble after it again immediately.

It takes a while, but eventually he wins this game and proudly presents to Tiergan the tail he caught with his teeth: his own.

Drunken Moogle Bar Night

It was an interesting night. XD Kikilu met Aghul, and learned a little about him (thanks to Bex’li), and Zezedoku took part, and won, the drinking contest, but it left him kinda druuunk, so he didn’t feel so good after several songs of dancing and retired to a guest room early(ish).

Aghul made some great new friends. Especially Kikilu. He can reach her face for snuggles without having to climb onto something first.

Aghul wags his tail when Maria comes by him but he can't get up and greet her because his tongue is stuck to a frozen lamp post.

“Aghul…?” It was not the sight of her friend which causes the archer to pause her steps, but rather the predicament she saw her friend in. For a moment, she thought Aghul was climbing the frozen lamp post she passed by, which wouldn’t have surprised her given his playful nature. Yet it was only on closer inspection did she see that the au ra was not climbing the lamp post, but rather his tongue was stuck to the post, wagging his tail but not doing anything more.

“How did you…?” She shook her head before looking to him again, her tone one of assurance. “ It’s going to be okay…I don’t know how you got into this mess, but I’m going to try to free you, okay?”

“Frii, frii-ih~! A-rhuu frii, ma-rii frii~!” It is indeed a happy song and Aghul eventually fogets to keep tapping the helmet at all. Instead, he’s leaning onto it with both front paws while shifting his (admittedly little) weight from one hind leg to the other and back again, tapping his feet instead.
Hearing Aghul sing along further encouraged Maria to maintain the beat on the metal plate, and more so when he took to tapping his feet on the ground instead of the helmet in his grasp. Yet that was okay; there was no mistake of the two having fun with this impromptu duet, humming and singing and tapping the armor.
“Look at you, making a dance to go with this song,” she giggles her delight, her hands still tapping on the plate. “To think that armor was only good for protecting people–I think we found a better use for it.” She shrugs before giving a conspiring grin. “I’m sure my brother won’t mind if we give his old armor a more important cause, no?”

“Frii frii!”, Aghul agrees cheerfully, only to end the duet when he hops off of the helmet to affectionately nudge Maria with his forehead. Behind him, his tail curves upwards in a show of glee, like that of a content cat. He purrs. “Ma-rii snuu~”
