This is a double fill for a double bingo! This is part of my Summer of Eskelpades bingo from 2022 from the @continentcakeshop​ This one is for the “scars and signs” square.

But! It is also for the WIP-mas bingo from the @cake-shop-rarepair-bingo​ ! An event designed to help clean up old bingo cards from past events. Talk about perfect, right? This is for the “rare pair” space, because could you believe I had to type in Eskel & Lambert? I was shocked.

So please enjoy this brotherly Eskel fic. I did tag romantic ships in this one, but the most important relationships that I really wanted to focus on were Eskel & Lambert, and Aiden & Gaetan. Because I love my little murder kittens and will take any excuse I can get to write them.

Was anyone looking for a sequel to King of the Sea, a fic featuring merman Erland and human Coën? No? Well, here is the accidental and unexpected sequel: In Warmer Waters, now featuring Arnghad as well. Completed for the @cake-shop-rarepair-bingo !

Coën smiled, lifting his head from the sand, looking down at Erland as he pillowed his head on Coën's stomach. It was the second summer he'd spent in the merman's company, and by now he knew the return of Erland's overly formal wording meant one thing: he was worried how his human mate would react to something. Coën would like to reassure Erland that there was nothing that could surprise him anymore, but when your lover was a merman—the gods damned King of the Sea—it was best not to assume anything.

Serious golden eyes looked up at him and Coën wanted to kiss him, see those eyes flutter closed in pleasure as they forgot their troubles for the rest of the afternoon. But Erland had something to ask him, and Coën wanted to hear it. He always wanted to hear his lover's words.

“What is this request?” he asked, mostly hiding his smile.

Erland sat up and Coën tried not to whine at the loss, warm hands sliding away from his skin and planting in the sand next to him. He knew why Erland did it: he didn't want to influence Coën's decision with his reverent touches. Erland loved touching his human as much as Coën loved feeling his merman, and they both knew it was a distraction at the best of times. A new seriousness settled over the conversation and Coën sat up, giving Erland his full attention.

Then I realized I probably shouldn't be turning down a good reason to write a rare pair fic, and here we all are.

The idea started forming when Gaetan found a historical picture that looked exactly like Letho. He was scrolling absently, not really paying attention to what was actually on the screen, when suddenly: there he was, Letho looking up at him from a sepia tone photo. Only it wasn't Letho, it was one of those robber barons from the late 1890's/early 1900's. Not as clean cut as you'd expect of a rich man, but there was a definite charisma there that reminded Gaetan of his partner. The man in the photo had an intense gaze and a prominent scar on his bald head, and he looked like the type to ride his lovers hard and put them away wet.

Gaetan showed him the photo on his phone after a month of dithering, and the bottom almost dropped out of his stomach when the usually quiet man got even quieter. And then, the smallest smile tugged at Letho's cheek, his eyes fucking sparkling with a new idea.

And then, there was the maid outfit. The one Letho bought for Gaetan as a joke (they were drunk), but it turned out they both really, really liked that as well. One thing quickly led to another, whispered conversations at night, they started sharing fantasies they'd never told each other despite all the years they'd been together... which was how Gaetan found himself in their sitting room, serving tea and cakes to Letho, Geralt, and Eskel, dressed as a maid.
